Rumors about Mariah Carey’s addictions and severe emotional distress have been circulating for years, but the latest issue of the National Enquirer claims to have proof of the pop legend’s many vices straight from a source who knows her very well.
Morgan Carey, Mariah’s estranged brother, says that the singer is in far worse shape than her fans realize, and he worries she’ll lose custody of twins Moroccan and Monroe due to her incessant partying.
Morgan says Mariah is addicted to prescription drugs and has been drinking heavily for several years, even during her pregnancy.
“I can’t say that I have ever been around her when she was sober, and that’s very scary.” Morgan claims. “Mariah was drinking through her pregnancy — even while she was nursing.”
Morgan confirms that Mariah has been drinking daily since her split from Nick Cannon. He also says his sister is surrounded by enablers who provide her with powerful sedatives such as Zyprexa, Ativan and Depakote.
“If my sister turns up dead, I’m not going to look the other way!” he said. “Anyone who’s filling her glass is jeopardizing her life!”
Morgan adds that Cannon is at least partially to blame for Carey’s sorry state, as he believes the father of her children was primarily interested in Mariah’s money from day one.
“Nick listened to people who said, ‘Get with Mariah, she thinks you’re cute, have kids and ride it to the bank,’” Morgan says. “Nick was there for the cash from day one. He doesn’t give a damn about Mariah.”
Neither Mariah nor Nick has publicly responded to Morgan’s shocking claims.
