It’s time to say hello to Patrice Brown.
And then it’s time to stop and say the following to the Internet: What the heck is wrong with you?!? Settle down.
Brown is a fourth grade teacher in Atlanta.
She recently wore a form-fitting dress to school, one that didn’t expose a great deal of skin or leave any inappropriate body parts uncovered.
But that didn’t stop critics from openly SLAMMING Brown’s fashion taste because… she’s a woman? Because she’s an African-American woman?
It’s hard not to wonder whether one or both of these factors played a role in the outrage that Brown’s dress somehow generated online.
Ready to join the debate? Scroll down and let’s do this…
The Dress in Question
Let’s start here: This is the outfit that has critics in an uproar.
The Reaction:
Yeah! Let’s just not bother teaching them proper manners or anything! Let’s never have a teacher wear anything that isn’t a mumu instead!
Down with Teacher Bae!
Yes, “Ms. Thicky Fine Teacher Bae.” How dare Brown possess any curves, right?
DEFINITELY!
There’s just no debate. How dare a teacher wear a dress?!?
The Defense:
Ugh, we hate even calling this a “Defense.” Why does she need to be defended? But still. At least there are people out there such as this who are not morons.
You Would Win This Best
Can you imagine any sort of Internet uproar if a man wore a tight shirt to school?
Educator of the Month
Oh, yes, Brown recently took home this award. Funny how the critics didn’t mention that.
It’s True
People just go out their way to get angry over the Internet.
And Another Thing!
Anyone care to dispute this point? We didn’t think so.
Preach.
Amen.
#TeacherBae?
Sure, but how about also this: A Great Teacher.
What Does TeacherBae Say?
“I just wish they would respect me and focus on the positive and what truly matters, which is educating the children of the future generations and providing and caring for them,” she told The Daily Dot. (What a crazy concept, right?)
