He’s okay, folks!
But this sure was a close call.
In the following piece of scary and hilarious footage, Michael Clifford from 5 Seconds of Summer nearly ends both his singing career and his life with one false step.
The 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist was performing at the Radio 1 Teen Awards in London when a little accident happened during the show.
While Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin and Luke Hemmings were performing their latest single "Hey Everybody," Clifford suddenly disappeared from view after taking a serious stumble when into a lower portion of the stage.
It actually looks really bad in the following video, but the 19-year old jumped on to social media soon after the concert and assured fans that he was alive and well.
Just a tad bit embarrassed.
"WHY DO I ALWAYS HURT MYSELF," Clifford wrote on Twitter. "All good geezers. On crutches for the next few days. Don’t look at me funny pls lolz. Thanks radio 1 for having us."
Clifford can at least take solace in the fact that he’s far from alone.
Plenty of musicians (including those as famous and successful as Madonna) have fallen off stage during a show.
As for the cause of this weekend’s mishap and subsequent injury, Clifford jokingly called out one star in attendance. He blamed her beauty for distracting him from the musical task on hand.
"I was looking at Rita Ora and I was like…hey," he joked to Radio 1. "And I fell."
That may be the best pick-up line we’ve ever heard. Call him, Rita! The young man risked life, limb and career for you!
