When Ryan Edwards checked into rehab following his disastrous wedding to Mackenzie Standifer last year, fans were hopeful that the troubled Teen Mom OG star would finally be able to turn things around.
Sadly, Ryan’s situation has deteriorated rapidly in recent months, and many viewers now find it impossible to sympathize with him at all.
In an emotional scene from last night’s season finale, it was finally confirmed that Standifer is pregnant with the couple’s first child together.

Fans learned several weeks ago that Mackenzie is pregnant with Ryan’s baby, but it was only last night that the couple officially confirmed the news.
A Joyous Occasion?
Ryan and Mackenzie headed to a doctor’s appointment together where they heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time.
Ryan’s Reaction
Throughout the appointment Ryan sat with arms crossed, complaining that he’d like to go home and go to bed. Needless to say, Mackenzie was less than thrilled.

Edwards’ famously permissive parents expressed concerns that it may not be the ideal time for Ryan to become a father again, due to his recent struggles with heroin and Xanax addiction. At the time they had no idea how right they were.
An Awkward Ride
While Mackenzie drove home, Ryan fell asleep in the car, a scene that reminded many viewers of the couple’s unforgettable ride to the church for their first wedding. Fortunately, this time the unconscious Ryan wasn’t behind the wheel.
An Ugly Fight
When they returned home, Ryan and Mackenzie engaged in what we hope was the worst fight of their marriage. And at one point, Ryan made a shocking declaration.

“I think we just need to separate for nine months,” Ryan told a stunned Mackenzie. Viewers were equally appalled.
Downhill From There
In the weeks after that scene was filmed, Ryan and Mackenzie’s relationship would take several turns for the worse. It all began last month, when Ryan was arrested for an alleged probation violation.
A Secret Relapse?
Fans were stunned, as it was later revealed that the probation stemmed from an April 2017 arrest for heroin possession – an arrest that Ryan had kept hidden from the public.
Mackenzie’s Defense
Standifer defended her husband, saying that the arrest was part of a routine booking procedure. Her argument didn’t make much sense, but it was soon overshadowed by more bad news about Ryan.
Tinder Trouble
Shortly after his second arrest, it was revealed that Ryan had contacted several women via the dating app Tinder. Edwards had created a profile on the app on which he falsely claimed that he was both 25 years old and single.
Grinding It Out
At the moment, it does not appear that Ryan and Mackenzie have separated. But she’s not the only one who’s very unimpressed with the troubled 30-year-old’s behavior as of late.

Ryan remains locked in a bitter custody battle with Maci Bookout, and she apparently doesn’t see the fact that he’s expecting a second child as an indication that he’ll soon turn his life around.

Maci stated on last night’s episode that she’ll continue to keep her son away from Ryan until he passes a drug test. “Just because they’re having a baby does not give me the reassurance that it’s OK to let Bentley be around Ryan or in the car with him,” she said.

Dark Times Lie Ahead For Ryan
Ryan has alienated everyone with whom he was once close, and it looks more and more as though he’s still in the grips of a powerful addiction. Here’s hoping he’s able to find the help he needs before the arrival of his second child.
