In late April, 90 Day Fiance star Nicole Nafziger revealed the shocking truth about her fiance, her plans, and their finances.
It turns out that she had been lying to her family about Azan Tefou, and repeating those same lies back to her fans.
Nicole finally fessed up that Azan never followed through on the alleged “shop” he was going to open in Morocco.
Apparently, it was just a lie meant to reassure her family.
So, what did Azan do with the $6,000 she said that she had given him?
And what are their real plans for the future?
Nicole is revealing the ugly truth, and even professing that she “sucks” at reality television. Check it out:
Why all of the lies?

Usually, drama for these two comes from Nicole’s family, or questions about Azan possibly cheating again, or just the nature of their long-distance engagement.
But this is different

This time, Nicole is spilling secrets that she and Azan have kept buried for YEARS.
So, if Azan never opened a shop, what happened to the money?
Nicole is now revealing that the shop wasn’t the only part of that lie. She also never handed off $6,000. That’s a bit of a relief to hear. Some fans had worried that she’d forked over the cash, Azan had stolen it (a major accusation from fans), and that Nicole was suddenly making excuses for him.
Honestly, this explanation is believable
We know that Nicole has made money with product endorsements over Instagram, along with whatever pittance she’s paid for 90 Day Fiance, but a single mom handing off $6,000 on a Starbucks barista salary? Most millennials don’t have anything close to that in savings. It being a fabrication makes a lot more sense.
So why the lie?
Nicole jokes that she and Azan “suck” at being reality stars, and then confesses that she has grown fatigued with the 90 Day Fiance franchise. Oh no!
And she isn’t just sick of filming
It sounds like Nicole is so burned out on the show that she didn’t even tune in to watch her castmates — or herself. Girl!!!
She’s sick and tired of the behind-the-scenes stuff, too
She mentions TLC specifically, here. We’re not aware of any specific conflicts with producers or network folks, but 90 Day Fiance keeps a tighter lid on background stuff than some longer-running shows.
Nicole explains the delay in bringing Azan over
If you read between the lines of the beaurocratic red tape that Nicole describes, she’s also talking about inviting a brown Muslim man named Hassan (his actual first name, changed purely for the show) from Africa to the United States. U.S. immigration policy is notoriously restrictive at the best of times, and right now, an entire branch of the Federal government is dedicated to making it as hard as possible for families like Nicole and Azan to be together. Whatever you think of these two in particular, it’s sad.
She won’t allow anyone to badmouth Azan
Nicole will bend over backwards to apologize for her own behavior, but she says that there are a lot of good times and tender moments that viewers just don’t see because they’re not as good for TV. Yep. It’s a reality show, not a documentary.
So why did she even do this season?
Nicole obviously felt differently about the show last year. We have to wonder if she’ll also feel differently about it in a few months.
She even blames the show for not being married
Can we be 100% honest here? It sounds like Nicole’s desire to not feel “pressured” to marry Azan has more to do with general anxiety about the wedding than it does with anything that 90 Day Fiance’s filming schedule or producers may have done.
Once again, one topic is off-limits
People are curious, but it’s a sensitive subject. Some fans are clearly hoping that Nicole will get back with her unnamed baby daddy. Others just want to know more about her life and her past. Either way, she’s put her foot down. Enough is enough.
Azan and May have a great bond
Nicole has made it clear that she and Azan and May will be a family unit, just like countless other families all over the world and throughout history.
So what are her REAL plans these days?
Wait, so she’s going to uproot her entire life and move to Morocco … and then uproot her entire life again, along with Azan, and move back to America? That’s … ambitious.
Is this a good plan?
No. Moving is super effing expensive, even more so when you jump continents. The idea of the entire family doing so twice while they wait for paperwork to complete is … mind-boggling.
Can they even afford it?
Not comfortably, they can’t. We may not know the exact net worth of either of them, but it sounds like it might bleed them dry.
Especially if they quit

90 Day Fiance may pay worse than almost every other reality show on television, but it’s added income that Nicole and Azan could probably really use. Plus, you don’t generally get to charge as much for product endorsements when you’re no longer a reality star.
Their love is very clear
But even after three-and-a-half years, maybe what they need is a little more patience before they bring Azan over and start their new lives together.
But we’re rooting for them!
We think that Nicole and Azan are, despite the drama, two people who love each other very much. We hope that they get their happy ending, whether it’s on camera or kept private.
