Last month, Mackenzie Standifer welcomed her second child, a boy named Jagger Ryan Edwards.
Sadly, the boy’s father and namesake (Ryan Edwards, not Mick Jagger) was unable to be there for his son’s birth.
Edwards is in rehab being treated for a severe addiction to heroin.
It looks as though he’ll remain there for quite some time, and though the treatment might literally save his life, it seems Mackenzie is NOT happy about it.
Take a look:
Troubled From the Start

We would begin by discussing a simpler time in Ryan and Mackenzie’s relationship — but really, these two have had issues since day one.
Wedding Woes

Ryan famously passed out while driving to his wedding with Mackenzie. Shortly thereafter, he checked into rehab for the first time.
The Relapse

He left treatment ahead of schedule and relapsed within weeks. That’s when the real downward spiral began.
Fighting the Law and Losing
Ryan was arrested three times in less than 18 months for possession charges and probation violations.
Bottoming Out

On one recent occasion, Ryan spent nearly a full week behind bars. Shortly thereafter, he checked into rehab again.
A Fresh Start

This time around, Ryan decided to remain in treatment for 90 days. And thus far, reports of his progress have been promising.
Unfortunate Timing
Ryan may have saved his own life by deciding to seek treatment. Unfortunately, the decision required him to be absent for one of the most important events of his life.
Mack the Mom
Mackenzie welcomed Jagger Ryan Edwards in early October. It’s her second child and her first with Ryan.
Absentee Father
Ryan was unable to be there when Jagger entered the world, and it seems Mackenzie was not happy about it.
The Return

Mackenzie made an unexpected return to Teen Mom OG recently. Last night, we learned how she feels about Ryan’s absence from the delivery room.
Not Holding Back
At one point, one of the show’s producers asked for Mackenzie’s opinion about Ryan’s timing.
Harsh Words
âÂÂIf I did not love Ryan I would call him the most selfish assh-le ever for missing this,” she said.
A Drop In the Life?

“But this is a drop in the babyâÂÂs life,” Mackenzie added, using a somewhat confusing metaphor.
Looking on the Bright Side
“If heâÂÂs going to miss him being born, but be healthy forever, what more can I ask for?â Standifer added, concluding on a hopeful note.
Mom With Mixed Emotions
Understandably, it sounds as though Mackenzie is a bit torn on the topic of her husband’s continued treatment.
The Right Call
Ultimately, however, it seems she realizes that this is a matter of life and death, and Ryan’s health is more important than his ability to be present at his child’s birth.
Wise Words
“Right before he left he said his kids deserve to have the healthiest dad and what better time to go than now,” Mackenzie told the producer.
Refreshing Self-Awareness

It sounds like Ryan has finally realized exactly what’s at stake here — everything.
Jen’s Denial

However, it seems that his mother, Jen Edwards, still feels he didn’t necessarily need to miss the birth of his son.
Downplaying

âÂÂIt is a relapse or slip,” Jen says at what point, seemingly downplaying the severity of the situation. “It was getting out of control,â she later concedes.
Setting the Record Straight
âÂÂIt was about to spiral bad,” Mackenzie clarified in her conversation with Jen.
Happy Ending in the Making
Fortunately, the delivery went off without a hitch, and nearly a month later, mom and baby are both happy and healthy.
Ryan’s Hope

As for Ryan, he’s reportedly 100 percent committed to the hard work of sobriety.
Holidays In Rehab
Insiders say he plans to remain in treatment until the start of 2019.
Homecoming

At which point, he’ll return to a grateful wife and a new baby boy. We wish him all the best.
