It has been nearly a month since Larissa Lima and Colt Johnson’s toxic marriage came to a violent end.
It’s been weeks, but these troubled 90 Day Fiance exes continues to lob accusations at each other.
Larissa says that Colt deactivated her phone and robbed her blind.
But some have accused Larissa of only having gotten with Colt in the first place because she was fishing for a Green Card.
It’s been known to happen, but Larissa says that she was never in this relationship for US citizenship.
In a lengthy essay, she explains it all, and you have to admit that her argument makes a lot of sense.
Larissa’s real reason for getting with Colt might be a little hard to believe, but she swears that it’s true.
Was Larissa just with Colt for a Green Card?
That would explain why she put up with him for as long as she did, and why she got with him in the first place. But as people claimed that this was her goal all along, Larissa hit back. In an Instagram essay shared by blogger John Yates, Larissa made it clear that she wasn’t after a Green Card — and she shares the unbelievable REAL reason she got with Colt.
First of all …
“My former husband is the one who came to talk to me,” Larissa writes. “And chased me for days online before I gave him any attention.”
“I did not want to talk to him,” she says.
Larissa explains that she was reluctant “because I could not communicate in English. I never put myself out there on dating sights to find an American guy.”
Even their initial chats didn’t always go so well
“I found the communication really hard with him,” Larissa admits. “And I even blocked him a couple of times and talked to him again weeks later.” (Pro-tip: if you’ve blocked a guy more than once, maybe your marriage isn’t meant to be)
It was, she says, all Coltee’s idea
“He was the one who insisted to meet,” Larissa writes. “And made all arrangements for the first meeting in Mexico.” This photo is from that meet-up.
Larissa explains how her Green Card scheme WOULD work
“If I had a dream of coming to the US,” Larissa explains. “I would create a profile on dating sights and target a wealthy man, like many women do.”
Colt doesn’t fit the bill

“I would not,” Larissa explains of her hypothetical Green Card scheme. “Be waiting for some average guy living with his mother to come and start talking to me online.”
It was never her dream or intention to move
Colt and his mother had moved from Seattle, Washington to Las Vegas after Colt lost his job in the rainy city. Larissa explains that it was his and Debbie’s choice to move to Vegas, and was not the result of her alleged machinations, as some have accused. It was, she says, a coincidence that her friend Carmen already lived in Vegas. Hey, it’s a big city. It happens.
“Another fun fact …”
“When we are dating online,” Larissa shares. “I had to distance myself from my 2 best friend, Carmen and Suzana from Brazil.”
Why?
“The reason why I stopped talking to them,” Larissa explains. “Is because when I was online, he wanted my full attention, and got mad at me when I was taking too long to respond to him.” Wow. That sounds SUPER mature and definitely like marriage material! (That is sarcasm)
She chose Coltee over her friends
“My friends got upset with me, we had an argument, and we stopped talking in August 2017,” Larissa shares. “And I only reconnected with Carmen in April 2018 when I reached out to her by email, apologizing to her for my behavior.” Fast forward nine months, and it was Carmen who bailed Larissa out of jail.
Larissa believes it was fate that she lived close to Carmen
“At the end of the day,” she writes. “I believe God knew everything, and made sure that when I came to this country, I would have support from a close friend when I needed it most.” Again, Colt didn’t move to Vegas for her or so that she would be close to Carmen. It just worked out that way.
She says the Green Card scheme doesn’t make sense
“It is unbelievable that people would think that if someone were here with a plan for a Green Card,” Larissa writes. “This person would ruin everything and get a divorce because the husband was cheating online.” (Note: Colt filed for divorce on January 11 following the couple’s violent fight that stemmed from his absurdly expensive porn habit)
She writes that it defies belief
“People really think that a Green Card seeker would fight over porn?” she asks, incredulous. “Or would a woman act like an angel and pretend she didn’t find anything, and later she could get that Green Card and run.”
“I never cared about a Green Card”
“I was real,” Larissa insists. “My feelings were real. And I was hurt.”
She says that she was in love
“I fell in love with the guy I met in Mexico,” Larissa writes. “For the way he treated me, for the magic moments, for the promises, for the daily chats.”
But things didn’t work out like she’d hoped
“Unfortunately,” Larissa admits. “My reality here was totally different than what I was expecting!!!”
She says that she’s doing so much better these days
“If the haters think that I should be in bed crying, it’s not going to happen,” Larissa declares. She says that she was already miserable during her hellish marriage to Colt, citing that she lost a dramatic amount of weight in one month because she was not eating.
She wants to be happy again
“I am doing a lot better,” Larissa writes. “With the support I have from my followers, my family, my friends, and my therapist. I feel stronger than ever!”
That actually does make sense
90 Day Fiance viewers had struggled to imagine someone falling in love with Colt after seeing his creepy behavior on the show. Fans who followed their antics on social media found their marriage even more alarming, and simply assumed that Larissa was putting up with it all because she had a goal in mind.
But this explains it
She says that she fell truly in love with Colt, but that what she saw was a lie that did not prepare her for the miserable reality of being married to Colt. That … really would make sense.
But … do we believe Larissa?
This is a constant and difficult question. With each passing week, she seems more and more sympathetic. How much of Larissa’s behavior on 90 Day Fiance was solely her fault, and how much was simply her response to Colt? It’s difficult to tell.
