The couples were in extremely different places on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 7, Episode 4.
Kimberly and Usman aren’t even engaged. And judging from their explosive, milkshake throwing clash, maybe they won’t ever be.
Angela throws another screaming fit at Michael. With the visa looming, she comes up with a plan to decide whether to remain married or to ditch him.
Finally, Bilal’s colorless void of a house is due some color. But in between lecturing Shaeeda, they touch upon a more sensitive topic.
Big Ed insults Liz after she walked away from the photoshoot, attacking her maturity.
Libby continues to pursue her music dreams. Andrei’s dad is visiting, but he needs to talk to another relative.
Finally, Jenny and Sumit pack and head off on their honeymoon. But even staunch professionals bat an eye at their age gap.
Kimberly Menzies and Usman Umar
Kimberly is having her first full day on this trip to Nigeria, but she and Usman are already clashing about his plans for a second wife. Yes, Kimberly insists that she is okay with a second wife to give him children to fulfill an apparent cultural expectation. But he is balking at her lack of desire to meet Wife #2.
Usman wants Kimberly to meet his friend
Kabiru is already in a plural marriage. Usman claims that he hopes that Kabiru can answer Kimberly’s questions and put her at ease. But … his actions during the conversation call his intentions into question.
His wives have met
In fact, they were living separately before, but now live with him in his house. They only waited until he built it. Kimberly, who wanted to keep Wife #2 out of sight and out of mind, is feeling thrown for a loop. Kimberly then learns that she won’t be the “favorite” by being the first wife, hearing that both wives will receive equal love from Usman. This is not what they talked about. It’s not what they signed up for.
Then, Usman makes it worse
He begins to tease Kimberly, trolling her with a math problem of how he might go about getting even more wives to produce even more children. When Kimberly tries to laugh it off but drops some quiet f-bombs, he is unhappy that she is not being “submissive” enough.
How’s this?
Kimberly stands up and tells him that she’s not going to listen to this. Seemingly unable to help herself (but we all know that she can and should have), she splashes Usman with his milkshake. The mess is pretty substantial. Then, Kimberly storms off.
It’s a lot
Usman is very vocally embarrassed by Kimberly’s behavior. He highlights that it is disrespectful in his culture, but that is also true of all cultures. Also, it was kind of the point. Kimberly felt hurt and lashed out.
Her pain is no joke
Whatever we may think of the relationship or her erratic behavior, Kimberly is hurting. This is not what she talked about. Usman has now blindsided her, she says, and then he rubbed salt into the wound with his teasing about even more wives.
Meanwhile, Usman is still cleaning up
He’s embarrassed. He notes to his friend that Kimberly did this once before, referring to the water incident in Zanzibar. Significantly, he says that if this is how she is acting, he cannot introduce her to his family.
Awkwardly, they have to ride home together
Both feel like the other owes them an apology. They’re both arguably right — because they both wronged the other. Kimberly has no excuse for spilling his milkshake. And Usman can rewrite history all that he likes, but we all heard his past assurances to Kimberly. Yes, she should have the common sense to know that he’s not on the up-and-up, but Usman still has an obligation to be honest. He’s the wrongdoer.
Back at the hotel room
Usman insists that Kimberly’s real problem isn’t the interruptions, which is half-true. He says that she is upset about his plans for a second wife. That is true, though he seems to be missing the nuance that she’s already making a huge emotional sacrifice by agreeing to it at all. She feels hurt and betrayed that he is now adding new details to it, things that they had not discussed.
OH???
Kimberly says that she’s going to borrow money from someone and catch an early flight home. She does not want to be in Nigeria with Usman, not after this. We have all heard her threaten to pack up and leave before. This feels different, because she actually physically walks out of the room.
Exit, pursued by Sojaboy
Usman chases after her despite her protests. We don’t get to hear his big romantic speech (hah!) or whatever this week, but even though he certainly still smells like milkshake, he is intent upon winning her back.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi
We start by seeing Angela having outdoor playtime with her grandchildren. It feels like their conspicuously colorful bikes were purchased just for the occasion, to try to give Angela this “grandma” vibe even though we mostly see her scream obscenities and flash people.
Allegedly, the grandbabies like Michael
They are asking about him, but Michael of course remains in Nigeria until his visa arrives. And Angela is no longer certain that she wants to go through with this. Despite marrying him in early 2020, she is having serious second thoughts.
Angela does at least call Michael
It’s his birthday, but the two are immediately cold and distant from one another. At first, at least, they are polite. Quickly, Angela begins to yell, calling him an “idiot.”
Michael is having a low-key birthday
He has relied upon money from Angela for years. Without it, he is struggling to get by and does not have money to throw around on a birthday celebration.
Here we go
Angela begins yelling at Michael about his audacity in creating an Instagram account. She has one, but apparently this rule applies only to Michael. Angela, who has a flirtatious “friendship” with Billy the Canadian stripper, is convinced that Michael is using his DMs to cheat on her.
Michael is tired of her controlling behavior
Everyone in the world, he reasons, has social media. Why can’t he? Angela’s insecurities about flirty women in his comments is not reason enough.
Michael stands his grown
Enraged, Angela hangs up on him, ending the call. She exits her car to smoke. That is unusual, because she rarely changes where she is before lighting up.
Michael calls her back
This time, he is calling to discuss the visa. Obviously, this sets off Angela even worse than before. She screams at him and once again ends the call. It is likely that her grandchildren heard some of the verbal abuse that she hurled at Michael.
Angela, Skyla, and the grandkids go out to eat
She insists upon healthy eating (nothing wrong with that … but that’s not what buffets are for), discussing her body transformation.
The grandkids are the real MVPs
Ranch dressing can make almost anything edible.
Bottom line, Angela does not feel desired
Everyone is complimenting her body except for Michael, she laments. Of course, Michael didn’t ask her or even want her to get the surgeries. Meanwhile, she barely censors herself from talking about her boobs at the table with her grandkids. Ultimately, Angela decides, she needs to go to Nigeria to get a handle on things before she and Michael get a new visa … or end things for good.
Bilal Hazziez and Shaeeda Sween
Now that Shaeeda has groveled and sought forgiveness for whatever it was that displeased Bilal when Shahidah was standing up and yelling at her, they’re going shopping. Bilal’s home is large, nice, and depressingly devoid of color. Shaeeda wants to find signs of actual life. Colorful sheets, pillows, and more to add a splash of excitement to Bilal’s mimecore aesthetic.
Naturally, Bilal zeroes in on something that is black and white
However, he points out the game board to highlight how (comically) expensive it is. He then gives Shaeeda a lecture on economics and conversion rates. How romantic.
Bilal looks at … a guidebook for newlyweds
He flips through the chapters, and highlights one about finances and spending. He is clearly negging Shaeeda about her desire to buy things (like decorations … for her home). But it also comes across as a little hypocritical.
Shaeeda knows
Bilal spares no expense when it comes to specific nice things that he wants. Why does he expect Shaeeda to pass up on a throw pillow when he’s wearing expensive clothes and shoes?
There is an adjacent store
Shaeeda begins looking through the merchandise of baby clothes and bedroom decor. She has baby fever.
Time for another lecture
This time, instead of lecturing her about money, Bilal is talking about how he feels that it’s too early for them to have a child. That is probably true … but for a 37-year-old woman, “just wait” is hard to hear. Especially when she has reason to doubt that he’ll follow through.
Bilal is dragging his heels
He doesn’t feel that this is the right time. That’s fair for a lot of reasons. But once again, he’s talking to Shaeeda like she’s a kid instead of like she’s his wife. Their talks are lectures because it’s not a discussion, it’s him explaining things and expecting her to feel the same way by the time that he’s done.
Bilal meets up with his mom
They are doing charity work, including a food bank, but he talks to his mom about Shaeeda’s desire to ruin his monochromatic void aesthetic with colorful decorations. His mom notes that it’s normal for Shaeeda to want to make her mark on her home.
They also discuss her desire for a baby
His mom notes that she may fear that he is trying to string her along until she can no longer have kids. There is no actual penalty in the prenup for that, so it’s hard to rule out. Bilal hopes that Shaeeda knows him better than that. Meanwhile, Shaeeda wants to see a doctor to make sure that she still has time left to conceive.
Ed Brown and Liz Woods
After watching Ed flirt with her friend — the photography model — and insult her feedback and mostly ignore her, Liz walked off. She expected that tonight would go this way, even though she had hoped that the model being her friend would keep Ed in line.
Meanwhile, Alex agrees with Liz
Ed badmouths Liz to her friend, who points out that the photo’s perspective is as Liz described.
Ed admits that he is about some things
But he also goes all in on attacking Liz’s decision to leave. While removing yourself from a toxic situation is a sensible action, he calls her childish and immature for doing so. That’s a weird way to describe your fiancee under the best of circumstances. It’s worse when you have such a substantial age gap … and when your dating history is full of other twenty-somethings.
Ed and Liz talk
She really feels the condescension when Ed speaks to and again insults her. She tells him that they just shouldn’t work together, because she doesn’t like this side of him. To the cameras, she notes that Ed is talking like her “dad” instead of like her fiance. It has, she notes, happened before.
Oh, but he wants her to get his equipment
Though he later complains to his buddies that he had to carry his stuff himself, in actuality he has Liz carry some of his lighting equipment back after their fight.
Ed meets up with some buddies
They tell him that he should be enjoying his engagement more. He offers them a version of the fight from last night. Ed also admits that he used to think that everyone cheated, but that this relationship has different problems even though he is trusting Liz more and more.
Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet
We hear Libby sing finally, but it’s just vocal exercises and a couple of nursery rhymes. Honestly? Doing that on camera has to be intimidating, no matter how good your voice is. Points for bravery.
Andrei’s dad is here
His father flew in from Moldova. He is a soft-spoken, polite man … with a very different personality than his son. He will be visiting for months. He is so proud of Andrei’s success.
They go out for ice cream
It was apparently Ellie’s idea. It’s also a great opportunity to see how a Moldovan man reacts to American food culture. He compliments the ice cream.
Andrei brings up Charlie’s antics
He discusses their issues with Libby’s ill-behaved brother, who memorably made a scene at the Moldovan wedding long before the BBQ brawl.
Andrei has plans to see another relative
This time, it’s on Libby’s side of the family — her homophobic mom (yes, we’re still bringing this up after her reclaim-the-rainbow clownery last year), Pam. She wants to meet with Andrei, and he already knows why.
Pam wants Andrei and Charlie to call a “truce” for her birthday
She wants everyone at her birthday party. That could happen … if Charlie sought help and treatment according to the steps laid out for him by Libby and her sisters. Charlie has not obliged, so no, Andrei says, he won’t be going if Charlie is there. Pam is unhappy, but — and we can’t believe that we’re saying this — Andrei is being entirely reasonable. If somebody sucks and can’t behave themselves, don’t go somewhere with them.
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh
They are temporarily living at their previous home — the one where Sahna disowned Sumit. The reason is that their visa paperwork or investigators could shop up there at any time, since that’s the address on the documents. For the moment, however, they’re happily packing for their honeymoon.
It sounds like a fun time!
While Jenny would enjoy a more laid back time, there is a lot to do in Rushikesh, which is a resort town in the foothills of the Himalayas. Lots of outdoor activities, for one thing.
Yeah, it’s gorgeous
And though the concierge is immediately taken aback by their age gap, their accommodations are clearly top notch.
It’s a lot
In fact, the cameras show off so much of their room that we have to wonder if there was a discount involved. If so, good for them. Not everybody can do OnlyFans. But for the amount of money that these cast members bring in for the network, many of them are not compensated nearly enough.
But it’s not all fun and swan hearts
Sumit wants to go back to work. Not now, but after the honeymoon. He and his friend had a cooking business (is this a restaurant?) before the COVID-19 pandemic began. He would like to go back to that. He knows that Jenny is retired, but he is a young man in his thirties. He also wants to work six days a week.
That’s too much
Jenny, who notes that she has her own money coming in, wants to see her husband more than that. She wants to enjoy their married life. She didn’t fight this hard to marry him only to see him once a week. The two will likely have to work out a balance or a compromise for this to go smoothly.
