Kailyn Lowry can finally reveal the name of her third son.
Yes, we know, the Teen Mom star actually did this back in October, telling fans that her latest child is named Lux Russell and that he was born on August 5, 2017.
She also added that Lux’s last name was Lowry… but was it really?
Was it legally?
At the time, that answer was no.
At the time, she was still battling over this issue with ex-boyfriend Chris Lopez.
Now, however, several months later?
Scroll down to learn why Kailyn can state her son’s full name with the certainty, due to a new official ruling…
Meet Lux Russell… LOWRY!
As first reported by Radar Online, a clerk from Kent County Court of Common Pleas said on April 11 that Kailyn’s name change petition was granted on April 11. She had filed the request on November 13, 2017.
A Name Change Petition, Huh?
This would seem to imply that the child’s original name, on his birth certificate, was actually Lopez, after his biological father, Chris. Neither Chris nor Kailyn has ever claimed the two were especially close at any point.
Lux, Of Course, is Kailyn’s Third Child
She has a seven-year old named Isaac with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera and a four-year old named Lincoln with ex-husband Javi Marroquin. She did have close relationships with those past lovers for a long time — but this simply was never the case with Chris Lopez.
Lux and Daddy
In March of 2018, Lowry dissed Lopez as an “Instagram parent” after he posted a photo of their son online, to which he replied that a person who “literally made a living off of putting kids on TV and social media” shouldn’t talk.
Like We Said, Things Were Contentious For Awhile
Just how contentious? Lowry said in December that Lopez is only entitled to “supervised visits” with his son, but these could at least take place anywhere, as long as a third party was in the picture.
Lopez and Lowry, Back in the Day
Lopez was sort of around when Lux was born in August, but he never signed any forms at the hospital stating paternity, likely so Lowry can’t ever file for child support. He was simply in the room when his son was born.
But Is He Still Around?
Perhaps? At least more than we initially believed? In early April, Chris shared new pictures of himself and his son, telling a follower that he and Kailyn are “co-parenting,” although he included a smiley face emoji with this statement. We somehow do NOT think they are co-parenting.
Say Hello to Lux
Lopez said hello to the little guy the moment he entered the world. Recently asked by a follower if he helps “financially” and if he has regular contact with Lux, Chris replied: “I watched my son shot out the box lol.” How sweet, right?
Lowry Isn’t Having It, However
Kailyn hasn’t allowed Chris to just sit back and pretend that he’s an involved father. Consider what she Tweeted earlier this year: “One thing I canâÂÂt f-cking stand is a man who tries to make it seem like heâÂÂs trying to be in his kid’s life when in fact he barely does the bare minimum.” Sums it up fairly well, doesn’t it?
In Response?

Lopez joked (he claimed) about sleeping wirh Briana DeJesus to get back at Kailyn. But would she even care? She wants Lopez around as a father to her son, not as a companion between the sheets. (Click on the above headline for more on Lopez’s “threat.”)
Wait, Does Lopez Have a Second Child?!?
Maybe! This is what Kailin implied in late March, stirring things up between the exes in a way we never imagined.
Will There Ever Be a Truce?
The article above (again, click on the headline) goes into detail over how Kailyn may have Chris on her podcast at some point. She’s the one who brought up this possibility, likely as a way to mend fences and find a way to co-parent their son in a healthy manner.
Because It’s All About Lux, Right?
Lux LOWRY, that is. Let’s just hope both parties always keep this in mind and always do whatever is best for the small human being they created together.
Just Look at This Kid!
What a precious cutie. He doesn’t deserves to be dragged into the middle of any parental beef. Good luck, young Mr. Lowry.
