Filming for the ninth season of Teen Mom 2 is currently underway, and thus far, Jenelle Evans has not participated.
As you’re probably aware, Jenelle isn’t on the greatest terms with the network that made her famous.
It doesn’t help that MTV fired David Eason from the show, but Jenelle’s gripes go well beyond concerns about her unemployed husband.
For one thing, it seems Evans’ recent road rage incident has led producers to implement some new safety policies — and Jenelle is refusing to abide by the new rules.
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup has obtained a full list of Jenelle’s demands, and they’re every bit as bonkers as you would expect:
On Strike
Yes, Jenelle is officially holding out. And it may be quite some time before MTV agrees to meet all of her demands.
Hurricane Season
Of course, Jenelle didn’t earn the nickname “the Carolina Hurricane” simply because she kinda blows. No, her temper is notorious, and it seems MTV execs are now experiencing Evans’ full wrath.
The Drama Queen
Jenelle may be a pain to work with, but she’s so good for ratings that producers are dying to bring her back. “They are moving on with the show without her, but they really want her to sign on,†The Ashley’s source tells her.
The Negotiator
“They have been negotiating back and forth for weeks to try to come to terms that both the network and Jenelle are happy with,” says the insider.
Eason Is the Reason
At the center of the tense negotiations is Jenelle’s volatile husband David Eason.
What to Do About Dave?
Eason was fired from the show late last year, but it seems there’s still some debate about how to proceed with Jenelle, while simultaneously keeping Eason off camera.
A Complex Arrangement
“The terms that Jenelle wanted the network to agree to stated that, while she and David will permit Jenelle to be alone on a set without David, he has to be allowed to pick Jenelle up and drop her off,†another behind-the-scenes source tells The Ashley.
No David, No Jenelle
“Jenelle stated that she will not travel without David, no matter what,” the source adds.
Making Things Harder
It’s what Jenelle does best! Now, she’s complicating her producers’ jobs by keeping David by her side at all times, even though he’s not permitted to appear on camera.
But … He Got Fired
And that’s not all. Jenelle also wants MTV to pay for David’s expenses when she travels to New York for the annual reunion show.
Free Vacations For Dave
“She also demanded that the network pay for somewhere for David to stay while Jenelle is working,†the insider says.
Safety First
Of course, David isn’t the only point of contention between Jenelle and her bosses. There’s also the small matter of Jenelle almost killing everyone on set.
Guns Ablazin’
As you’ve likely heard, Jenelle was recently involved in a shocking road rage incident that was featured on Monday night’s episode. At one point, Evans pulled a gun on the other driver.
Jenelle Hearts Guns
Not surprisingly, MTV wants to ensure that no such incident will ever take place again, and they’ve attempted to implement a weapons ban during filming. Also not surprising is the fact that Jenelle’s not having it …
Gotta Keep the Car Glock
“MTV has a strict ‘no weapons’ policy for their sets,†the source tells The Ashley. “Jenelle agreed not to have guns on-set, but would not agree to giving up the gun she has in her car at all times, even if she’s filming in the car.â€Â
Totally Clueless
“She also demanded that no one on set be allowed to have any firearms if she was not allowed to have one,†the network source said. “The show’s security team does not carry weapons, so that was really a non-issue.”
It’s Always David
“No one has ever brought a weapon to set before, except when David brought the knife and slashed all the balloons at the New Year’s Eve party filming,” the insider added.
No Lawyers
And that’s not the end of Jenelle’s demands: “She told them that her lawyers would no longer appear on the show, or allow her to talk about any of the cases she has open,†the source said. “She said that it has caused her more legal headaches in the past, and at times, the footage from the show has been used against her and she wouldn’t allow it to happen anymore.â€Â
Then What Good Is She?
“They basically said that if Jenelle refuses to discuss those things, she really has nothing to film about,†the source said. “They said that this is a huge part of Jenelle’s story that can’t be ignored, especially when things are playing out in real time in the media for the show’s viewers to see.â€Â
The Real Issue
And of course, Jenelle is also holding out for more money. But she might be out of luck on that one.
Contractual Obligations
“All of the original ‘Teen Mom 2’ girls have a most favored nations clause in their contracts, so they all have to make the same salary,†the source said. “If they paid Jenelle more money, they would have to give the other three more. They can get around this a bit by issuing bonuses, gift cards and stuff, but they can’t give her a salary increase without paying the other three girls more.†Sounds like the kind of thing Jenelle wouldn’t understand AND wouldn’t care about.
