Jenelle hinted that the trip had something to do with her long-delayed cosmetics line, but fans aren’t buying it.

One Theory
Many fans are convinced that David and Jenelle went to LA to score drugs. It sounds a bit outlandish, but these folks insist they’ve figured it out.
One Hell of an Update
A Facebook page called “Teen Mom Updates” claims to have the inside scoop on Jenelle and David’s cross-country bender.
Cut Off?
“Jenelle has had the same doctor in her hometown for years,” the page reads. “Her town has recently started cracking down on doctors prescribing addictive medications.”
Busted
“Jenelle’s doctor noticed Jenelle’s pattern of “losing†medications and began to realize she was abusing the meds and quite possibly lying about her symptoms just to get them,” the report goes on.
Issuing the Ban
“After another call needing her medicine much earlier than she should, the doctor put a ban on her,” the post continues.
Spreading the Word
“The ban also included all doctors that prescribe the same meds in her whole town.”
Whatever It Takes
“Jenelle and David quickly flew to LA where it is well known that she likes to buy drugs from. After a couple of days, Jenelle and David began their drive home.”

The Mystery Remains
Obviously, unless they do get busted we’ll probably never know if Jenelle and David drove 3,000 miles with a car full of illicit substances.
A Suggestion
But whatever the case, Teen Mom 2 fans have some ideas as to how MTV can deal with its ongoing Jenelle problem.
The Official Explanation
Last night on Instagram, Jenelle responded to an inquiry about the “emergency trip,” saying that it wasn’t an emergency trip after all. According to the Carolina Hurricane, she flew out to California on business for a photo shoot, then fell so ill that she had to drive back. What the heck happened?
Spasming Out
According to Jenelle, she may never be able to fly again due to esophageal spasms. No one knows why this happens, she says, but it’s not good.
Sounds Dangerous
According to the Internet, these spasms can prevent food from reaching the stomach. These contractions move food through the esophagus but can cause severe pain. Esophageal spasms are not common. Often, symptoms that may suggest esophageal spasm are the result of another condition such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or achalasia. It’s not clear what caused them for Jenelle – no one knows, according to her – but we’re sure fan theories abound.
Do You Believe Her? And What’s Next?
Because Jenelle’s relationship with the truth has always been strained, to say the least, one never quite knows what to believe. She’s had many health problems, yes, but she also has made so many questionable decisions and statements that it’s hard to know what’s true, partially true, or not true at all. Did this really stop her from flying? If it did, was it at all self-inflicted? Are the drug rumors true regardless? We may never know. All we can do is stay tuned.
