Earlier this week, the world learned that Cheyenne Floyd will be replacing Farrah Abraham on Teen Mom OG.
Floyd is a bit of an odd selection, as she gave birth to her only child at the age of 24, and thus never had the experience of being a teen mom.
And while she’s a reality TV vet, having appeared on MTV’s Are You the One? and The Challenge, Cheyenne has never had any association with the Teen Mom/16 and Pregnant franchise before now.
Judging from the reaction on social media, fans are less than thrilled with the selection of Cheyenne.
And now we know that her castmates on the long-running series are just as unenthused …
The New Mom In Town
Fans were stunned by the announcement that Cheyenne had been cast as Farrah’s replacement. In fact, many stated that they had no previous knowledge of the 25-year-old mother of one.
The Cheyenne Gang
Cheyenne will be joining the show along with her baby daddy, Cory Wharton, and their 1-year-old daughter, Ryder.
Stiff Competition
Cheyenne beat out a number of other moms, including two frontrunners who seemed to be the preferred selections of TMOG viewers.
Mackenzie #1
Many fans thought that Ryan Edwards’ wife, Mackenzie Standifer, had earned a full-time cast member gig after putting up with Ryan’s erratic behavior for so long. On top of that, Mackenzie welcomed a child while she was in her teens, and thus, meets the show’s only casting requirement.
Mackenzie #2
Mackenzie McKee would’ve been another obvious choice. Like Briana DeJesus, McKee was one of the stars of the short-lived Teen Mom 3, and the courage with which she’s faced a number of major life challenges has made her a favorite among viewers.
Alas, No Macks

Both Mackenzies reportedly campaigned hard for the position, but were passed over. And sources say the other moms on the cast are very, very unhappy with Farrah’s replacement.
Pissed Off Portwood

“Amber [Portwood] is pissed off about a new cast member,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.
Making Her Voice Heard

The insider adds that Portwood has been making her objections clear to producers and informing her bosses that she speaks for the entire cast.
The Negotiator

“They’ve been doing Teen Mom for 10 years and don’t think they like the idea of someone who is a total newbie and has never even been on the show before coming on permanently,” says the source.
An Alternative

So who would the remaining OGs like to see as Farrah’s replacement? Well, they think the answer has been hiding in plain sight the whole time.
Killer Crossover?

“They all just think it’s stupid that they’re bringing in people from outside the franchise instead of bringing the [Teen Mom OG] and [Teen Mom 2] casts together,” says the source.
Moms Who Get Along

“Maci loves Chelsea, Kail and Amber get along, it just makes more sense,” the insider adds. And we all know nothing brings in the ratings quite like a bunch of friends enjoying conflict-free interactions!
A Confusing Solution
All joking aside, it seems like the logistics of that scenario would be a nightmare. Would Teen Mom 2 simply cease to exist? Would Teen Mom OG become a sprawling epic with eight cast members shooting in eight different states?
The Realist
For his part, Tyler Baltierra reportedly accepts that producers have to do something to keep the show fresh, and they’re probably not gonna go for the idea of merging two successful shows (thus halving the franchise’s ratings).
Preparing For the Worst …
“He just doesn’t think the show is going to last very much longer unless the new cast member brings in amazing ratings, but they aren’t really holding their breath,” the insider says of Tyler and Catelynn’s skepticism.
Not What It Used to Be
“Catelynn in particular feels like the show has absolutely nothing to do with the kids anymore so they’re just waiting for MTV to pull the plug,” the source adds.
One Supporter

But not everyone is opposed to Cheyenne’s casting. Teen Mom 2 star Javi Marroquin has publicly expressed his support for the decision.
Cory Glory
“Cory is my guy, so I’m glad he’s on board,” he told Radar. “Good decision for his family.” As for what Farrah thinks of the decision …
Classic Farrah

“I don’t watch the show anymore, as I’ve moved on,” Abraham said when reached for comment. “The show was done when I left.” Some things never change.
