So much for that amicable divorce, huh?
When Dakota Meyer filed to legally split from wife Bristol Palin in February 2018, both sides said all the right things.
They said they still loved each other and their kids would always be a priority and yadda, yadda, yadda.
But then Bristol was cast on Teen Mom OG and she needed to create a bunch of drama in order to justify this hiring and… well… here we are.
Viewers recently witnessed Palin and Meyer talk openly about the latter’s PTSD and how it affected their marriage.
On an episode of this MTV hit, they agreed to break up.
But then Palin recorded a video for the network that implied Meyer was a deadbeat dad; Meyer took MAJOR exception to it; and Palin clapped back in an interview with Radar Online.

I Was All Alone…
In a video meant to promote Teen Mom OG just this month, Bristol summed up her relationship with Meyer as follows: “I got engaged and pregnant within a month. Planned a wedding. And I was like, ‘I can’t get married.’ Called off the wedding. Went through the whole pregnancy by myself. Friggin Sucked.”
She Said She Felt Guilty About It, So…
“I got back together with him. Got married right away. Had another baby right away. And then we got divorced just recently.” (The couple has two daughters and Palin has a son from a previous relationship, too.)
SUCH BS!
Meyer was aghast over Bristol alleging she went through the pregnancy by herself, implying that Dakota ditched her. He wrote on Instagram in response that Palin called off the wedding and: “I reached out to her before Sailor was born and asked what the plan was to co-parent. She told me to go through the courts to establish paternity.”
This Was All Her, Meyer Explained
And it gets even worse, he says. Bristol shut him off to such an extent that “I found out my child was born on Twitter,†adding: “Can you imagine being a dad and not being allowed to be at your child’s birth? She denied my paternity until it could be proven, at which point Sailor was born.”
Eff You, Bristol!
“For Bristol to state that Sailor didn’t have a dad is laughable,” Meyer continued. “What really happened is Bristol kept our daughter from having a father present at birth and until the courts ruled that I was her father.”
And Now… Bristol Responds!
This feud has turned so very vicious, which is tragic when there are three kids involved. Palin has replied to Meyer’s latest remarks in an interview with Radar Online.
This is What She Says:
“I turn my other cheek on a lot of things, and I will continue to do so because my children deserve parents who respect each other. But for Dakota Meyer to say that he found out about the birth of our daughter from Twitter is absolutely not true.”
How Dare He?!?
“I will not stand by and allow false evil information, such as this, to be printed for our daughter to see one day.” (Yes, EVIL. She went all the way there.)
Shifting the Blame
Palin says she absolutely kept Meyer apprised about the state of her pregnancy and their impending child: “Dakota told me not to contact him when we broke up. I reached out to him at my twelve week ultrasound appointment, letting him know that it was most likely a girl and when she was due.”
Meyer Demanded Custody, Bristol Explains:
“I did not hear from him again until a couple of days before my due date when I received a letter stating he had the tools and expected to be a custodial parent. He told me he wanted a 50/50 agreement on our unborn baby. As most concerned mothers would – I froze.”
What is Going On?!?
Bristol was in shock. She tells Radar: “I had just gone through nine months of pregnancy without the support, or even acknowledgment, from Dakota.”
What? He Said to Stay Away!
“Dakota never reached out to me to attend our daughter’s birth, his request for no communication was something I tried to respect,” Bristol says, which does sound like a stretch, doesn’t it? It’s one thing for someone to wish to be left alone for awhile… it’s another to think that same person would not want to know his child was about to be born.
Meyer Did NOT Learn About Sailor Via Twitter
Palin insists on this point: “My father and Dakota had kept in touch after our breakup and let Dakota know that I was in labor. I sent Dakota a picture of our newborn baby girl right after she was born and I did not get a response. My father also sent him a picture of Sailor Grace.”
Who is the Real Social Media User Here?!?
“I did not post anything on social media about the birth of our daughters out of respect for Dakota,” Palin tells Radar. “On Christmas Eve, I was sent a news article of Dakota’s social media post congratulating himself on the birth of our child.”
Okay, I DID Insist on the Whole Paternity Thing…
Bristol admits here that Meyer is right on one point: “Before her birth when I had received the letter from Dakota, I had regretfully told him to go through the court to establish paternity. I did this trying to protect our unborn baby, and not knowing what type of parent he was going to be.”
My Bad, Folks!
She says she then felt awful about it once Sailor arrived: “My heart quickly changed the second I laid eyes on our beautiful baby girl. My heart broke knowing our baby did not have a father, and at that moment, I realized the completely unnecessary mistake I had made of telling him to go through the court system.”
Meyer Did Not Meet His Daughter Right Away
Bristol explains why: “Dakota unfortunately continued down the legal route of establishing paternity and refused to meet our child until he had legal visitation with her, which did not happen overnight.”
Hope Remains!
Concludes Bristol: “Although I have made plenty of mistakes over the years, I will continue to do what’s best for my children and continue to praise Dakota as an outstanding father. I hope our relationship can get to a better place.”
So… Meyer Was Basically Telling the Truth?
He said Bristol made him establish paternity, which she admits to doing. And he said that he found out about Sailor being born via Twitter, which still seems very plausible. He never said Palin was the one who Tweeted it.
Here’s What is Crazy:
The couple got back together after all this and had another child! They are also parents to a daughter named Atlee.
It’s All Very Sad
As we mentioned many times, there are kids involved here. And Meyer is an ex-Marine who suffers from PTSD because his platoon was killed in Afghanistan. This feels sort of gross and tragic, that Palin has created such a mess just to establish herself as a ratings draw for MTV.
