On this past Monday night’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Javi Marroquin proposed to Briana DeJesus and she said no.
Or so the network would like us to believe.
Viewers never actually witnessed the proposal, which allegedly took place several months ago, back when this installment was filmed and Javi and Briana were a semi-serious couple.
On social media shortly after the episode aired, Javi expressed confusion over what supposedly went down between him and Briana, while DeJesus cursed off her ex and insulted his new baby mama, Lauren Comeau.
It’s a lot to take in, consider and comprehend.

What Allegedly Transpired?
Marroquin thought he was going to be deployed on this Teen Mom 2 episode, so he did buy an engagement ring and did confere with his sister about proposing. We saw those events take place.

Javi doesn’t deny having bought the rock. He willfully pulled it out in front of the camera.
So… How Did the Proposal Go?
That’s the thing: it was NOT shown on air. Weird, right? We simply heard Briana talking about it to loved ones, saying it lacked pomp, circumstance, romance, flowers, balloons…. heck, even an actual question.
Come On! Just Take It!
Briana told her sister that Javi showed her the diamond ring and said “here.” This was how he asked (or demanded?) her hand in marriage; again, ACCORDING TO BRIANA.
What Did She Say in Response?
Heck no, dude! Basically, that is. More or less. “It wasn’t my ideal proposal, and I wasn’t going to accept the ring,” DeJesus said to a friend, also telling her sister of Javi: “He wants to marry me, he wants me to have his children, he wants me to move in with him, there’s a lot of things that he wants. I told him, ‘We have some time to think about it, we don’t have to rush.'”

“I don’t know why he wants to propose right now,” she said in front of the camera this week. “We’ve had a conversation about what we want for our lives, like what we want for the future, but it wasn’t like I want to get married with you, I want to have your kids right now. We spoke about it like, ‘Yeah, maybe one day.’ We’ve only been together for a few months, so it’s super fast.”
Ummm…. WHAT?!?
Months after the episode was taped and after he split from Briana, Javi Tweeted that he heard about what was portrayed on Monday evening and that it simply wasn’t the truth. “wait…im just now getting the cliff notes on last nights episode. she really said she said no lmao! ok,” he just wrote.
Hmmm… This Makes Sense Now
It sounds like Javi has not really been watching this season, but he did attend the Teen Mom 2 reunion in May and was told something by producers that sounded odd at the time; not any longer, though, he also Tweeted: “makes sense at the reunion when I told them what happened they kept asking me the same question as if I was supposed to say something different…they probably wont air it though.”
No Harm, No Foul, No Worries
“anyways, all good though…I’ve moved on from the past, most importantly I have accepted it..looking forward to the future. all love!” concluded Javi in this mini rant, trying to make it clear that he had to comment, yet also that he doesn’t actually care that MTV supposedly invented this proposal of his.
Does He Harbor Ill Will Toward Briana?
She played a role in this storyline obviously, the one he says was conjured up by producers. It sounds like Javi isn’t going to bash her in public, though, because they once were “rocking for each other,” which is our new favorite expression.

DeJesus still insists the proposal took place. She Tweeted to The Hollywood Gossip’s Teen Mom 2 recap of this week’s events and reiterated, as you can see above, that she rejected Javi.
But Then Javi Called the Storyline Into Question
And DeJesus didn’t really deny it. She turned her attention instead to Lauren Comeau, the woman now carrying Javi’s child, and told Marroquin to go concern himself with her, not with her proposal claim. Makes you wonder what really happened, doesn’t it?
Dropping the B Word Again
Briana let the haters know how she really feels with this second Tweet. She’s allegedly referring to The Challenge star Jemmye Carroll, who’s been talking unprovoked trash about DeJesus for months.
Does MTV Really Edit Episodes?
Yes. Just ask Jenelle Evans. She has blamed the network many times for how she is portrayed on the show.
All Reality Show Edit… A Lot
This is really obvious, or so we thought. But including an entire storyline that didn’t happen at all, such as Javi is claiming here?!? That would be pretty extreme.

Do you believe Briana and her assertion that Javi shoved a ring in her face and then waiting for a proposal response, as she’s explained?
Or Do You Believe Javi?
Are you buying his claim that this simply didn’t happen. On air, he talked about proposing because he was getting deployed and wanted to lock Briana down, so to speak. But then he also later said he got out of the deployment due to a “loophole.” So perhaps he changed his mind and didn’t then propose?
Why Would MTV Not Show the Proposal?
This is what we keep coming back to. This would seemingly be rich content; it would be the exact sort of thing MTV would film and promote. So, if it happened, why on Earth did viewers not see it?
