90 Day Fiance Season 9, Episode 10 shows how serious things are getting as the K-1 visa deadlines approach.
First, Bilal and Shaeeda’s trip includes dress shopping … until Bilal kills the mood on the trip with a one-sided prenup.
It’s finally Biniyam’s time for a real MMA fight, but Ariela is very reasonably nervous.
Emily has rocks on the brain, showing Kobe some boring ones but showing her family a ring that she bought for herself.
Jibri’s parents have something of a mini-intervention with him about Miona, but he’s the one with a lot to say.
Kara touches base with a friend who really struggles to see her and Guillermo working out.
Patrick and Thais’ very simple shopping trip for decor turns into a messy disagreement about mutual respect.
Bilal Hazziez and Shaeeda Sween
Bilal and Shaeeda have taken a trip to Atlanta to visit his sister, Nefertari.
Shaeeda has a wedding to plan
While Bilal has been reluctant (at best) to actually plan things, they’re at least at a place where she can try on dresses. Per tradition, Bilal is not with her, but Nefertari is there as a perfect companion — really living up to her name’s meaning.
She! Looks! Gorgeous!
Shaeeda really likes off-white gowns, and had already selected dresses to try on. Some, she ended up ruling out because she did not feel that they were age-appropriate, but she looked breathtaking.
even But …
Shaeeda does have a heart-to-heart with Nefertari about Bilal. Oddly, Nefertari does NOT see her brother as a controlling person who always has to win at arguments — even after Shaeeda phrased it so, so delicately. Nefertari is mostly just concerned about seeing her brother’s heart broken again. Will Shaeeda become his third ex?
Time for some “fun” sightseeing!
Bilal takes Shaeeda onto a ferris wheel. Of course, Shaeeda is afraid of heights, and is immediately spooked and uncomfortable at the transparent floors of the wheel. As is so often the case with things that Bilal decides that he and Shaeeda will do, it’s unclear why he thought that this was a good idea.
Prenup!
Bilal surprises Shaeeda, who is already very anxious, with an email from his attorney. It’s their prenuptial agreement. Of course, this is a surprise to Shaeeda. Bilal had mentioned this once before, she’d shot it down, and he hadn’t brought it up since. It turns out that he hadn’t brought it up because he was just going ahead with it without her. Bilal feels the mood drop and admits that he knew that this was a bad idea.

Okay, so having made Shaeeda clean up splashed water is pretty reasonable and hardly the basis of Cinderella, the carriage is a funny follow-up to that. Still, Shaeeda feels blindsided by Bilal’s prenup announcement, and she’s right to be.
It’s not especially romantic
Shaeeda is still preoccupied with the prenup (and Bilal’s larger control issues), while he seems to think that if he just tells her that this is the right idea for long enough, she’ll see things his way. Or, you know, she’ll just give up and let him have his way.
Shaeeda feels like she’s paying for Bilal’s exes
But she may be missing the point. A legitimate prenuptial agreement should be composed by both parties, each represented by an attorney. It is, after all, an agreement. Perhaps we are missing something, but this seems extremely one-sided. It looks like Shaeeda might address this on next week’s episode, at least.
But this topic isn’t going away
Bilal says that he cannot imagine himself marrying Shaeeda without a prenup. While prenups are usually a good idea (even when no one in the marriage is rich), Bilal seems to be going about this in the worst way possible. C’mon, man.
with Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre
Ari and Bini are still processing a recent confrontation. Bini had been grappling with a woman as part of his MMA training. Ari felt blindsided because he hadn’t told her that he was sparring with a woman. It looked like a ridiculous reaction … though we do have to remember that Ariela and at least two of his exes have accused him of cheating on them. Still, valid or not, this has left Bini feeling embarrassed.
Ariela has real concerns
To her, this is a communication issue. She reminds Bini that this is not the first time that this has been a problem. She wants transparency and honesty from him. Bini admits that he didn’t tell her because he was worried that she would not like him sparring with a woman, but she reminds him that not telling her things because she won’t like them is not an acceptable decision to make.
They make peace
They also cuddle pretty adorably with little Avi, who is turning into quite the chatterbox. So cute!
Biniyam psychs himself up for his big fight
After all of this time spent training, it’s finally the day of his first real match.
Ari has legitimate worries
First and foremost, she is concerned about Biniyam’s health and safety. Her father, a doctor, is staying home and watching Avi during the fight, because he is not going to endorse this by attending. Ari is also worried about Bini’s focus, because their relationship needs a lot of repair, but he has been concentrating on MMA training.
Biniyam is so hyped
While we haven’t heard about his “MMA dreams” before this season, we suppose that there’s a chance that he’s been talking about wanting to risk brain damage by kicking athletic strangers … and maybe The Other Way editors just never let that aspiration slip through?
WHO???
Angela Deem is one of the most recognizable 90 Day Fiance villains, and she makes a cameo appearance, showing up in the audience to watch Bini fight.
It’s happening!
While many of us were aware that Bini had been spotted participating in MMA in the New York area last summer, only seeing him beginning his match makes it “real” to us. Perhaps Bini felt the same way at the time.
you Biniyam isn’t playing around
His opening move is a flying kick against his opponent. Actually, you know what? A screenshot can’t really do it justice.

We could not resist making this GIF of Biniyam’s opening move. As you can imagine from this beginning, Bini scored a victory in a matter of seconds.

Ariela was visibly anxious the whole time, while Janice (whose dye job looked fantastic, by the way) had more fun cheering him on.
Hooray!
Ariela clearly hopes that Biniyam can now focus more upon their relationship and family. In her mind, perhaps he has this whole MMA thing out of his system.
Bini has other ideas
He is already thinking about further training, and areas that he hopes to improve.
dding Emily Bieberly and Kobe Blaise
Emily and Kobe are taking a drive, where Kobe has clearly gotten the message from her dad that he needs to get serious about money. That’s great!
But …
Emily is reluctant to reduce their wedding budget. They’re only marrying once, and she doesn’t want to skimp on it.
For now, they’re focused upon the present
Emily has taken Kobe to an extremely goofy local tourist attraction. What is it, you ask? It’s a bunch of rocks.
Babe, you gotta
Emily encourages Kobe to take a hole pic (ahem, a photo of himself with his body inside a hollow within the rock). Kobe doesn’t see the big deal about the collection of boulders, and honestly, viewer don’t, either.
Emily goes dress shopping
Victoria, her grandmother, Madeline, her sister, and Lisa, her mother are all present and looking on with interest while she tries out different gowns.
Hinting?
Emily suggests that she has been “hinting” at Kobe to go look at rings, but Madeline is quick to point out that Emily has basically been reenacting the Kim Kardashian “dropping hints” meme. She’s been directly telling Kobe that he should get her a ring soon.
Actually, Emily took things a step further
She reveals to her family that she went ahead and bought a ring for herself, “just in case.” While she very sweetly says that she doesn’t want to put that pressure on Kobe, and very reasonably is picky about something that she’s expected to wear for years or decades to come, buying your own contingency ring is SO MUCH to not only do, but admit to on television.
Girl …
Madeline’s first concern is Emily’s budget. Emily’s a mom, she’s saving up for a wedding, she and Kobe are going to eventually get their own place. Yes, Emily has her own job, but Kobe can’t work for many months to come. Madeline’s other concern is that Kobe might feel emasculated if he learns about the ring. While Kobe is in charge of his own feelings, there is a chance that Emily wasn’t thinking of them — even though she says that she’ll wear a ring from Kobe even if she doesn’t like it as much as the ring that she got for herself.
Jibri Bell and Miona Bell
Jibri sits down with his mother, Mahala, and his stepdad, Brian, at a coffee shop. He knows that they have coffee at home, so this conversation is probably not going to be one that he will enjoy. He’s right.
First and foremost, how goes the wedding planning?
Jibri admits that he’s no longer doing whatever the hell a Prairie Wedding is, and is going with the beach wedding that Miona wanted. On the one hand, it’s essentially giving Miona only one of the things that she wanted, which sounds like a reasonable compromise. On the other hand, it’s more expensive and less convenient for relatives. The long and short of it is that a last-minute wedding that will have to be in another state means that family, including his parents, likely cannot attend.
Jibri has also changed recently
Mahala knows when something is bothering her son. Ever since his return from Chicago, he has seemed less vivacious and more subdued, which is not his normal state of being. Is he okay?
If Jibri didn’t have a time limit, would he marry Miona?
“No,” Jibri admits. He would love to take his time and do it right, but he seemingly cannot (he and Miona married in Serbia about a year before this, so it’s assumed that they were doing a spousal visa but were asked to conceal that detail from the cameras), so he’s just going for it. That’s not great news.
Mahala isn’t the only one who’s noticed a change in Jibri
Miona and Jibri go for a walk, and Miona knows that something is up with him.
Here’s what Miona thinks that the problem is
She worries that he’s being too greatly influenced by his parents, and that he needs to man up and stand up to them. This is very similar to their concerns about him, but they think that he’s not standing up enough to Miona.
By the way, Miona is not up for postponing the wedding
She wants her wedding within the timeframe, and doesn’t want to put it off and just continue dating. She loves Jibri, but if he cancels their wedding, she’s just going home.
Kara Bass and Guillermo Rojer
Kara meets up with Tim, a friend of hers. She says that Guillermo was not really in the mood for going out and about today, so she didn’t try to force the issue. That’s a good, healthy response to your partner not wanting to go anywhere.
Meanwhile …
Guillermo is at home doing laundry, whispering sweet nothings to the washer and dryer. He’s adorable, as always.
Tim and Guillermo have met
Tim tells the camera that he met Guillermo before, but remembers him as relatively shy. In contrast, he sees Kara as a fun and outgoing person whom everyone likes to get to know. He’s hinting at questions abut their compatibility.
Kara and Tim catch up
She strongly implies that she and Guillermo are just boning nonstop every day (if so, good for them). The more serious topic is that they’re looking at a lengthy wait before Guillermo can legally work in the United States. 6-9 months of waiting after they marry. They also have different ideas about what their wedding should be like, with Guillermo wanting a nicer one and her wanting to put that off until later.
“Kara being engaged right now is weird”
Tim wonders how Guillermo deals with Kara being such a wild party girl, and wonders how well they will mesh in the long term. He also hears that Kara wants Guillermo to be more assertive with her (not talking about bedroom stuff), though Tim suspects that she will not genuinely like this.
“Orange flag”
Tim suspects that things will be a little messier than she thinks. Kara is convinced that she can plow on through and make this work for her and for Guillermo, no matter what doubts people have. For what it’s worth, we hope that she’s right.
Patrick Mendes and Thais Ramone
Thais is still thinking about how Patrick has made so many unilteral decisions. It’s not just the move to Dallas and into a house where John still has free reign. It’s also that she just has no control over the house where she’s living.
Patrick’s colorless bleachcore house has to change
Thais would like actual decorations in the house, while Patrick (like Bilal) lives in a colorless void.
Patrick takes Thais to a high end furniture store
Unfortunately, Patrick admits that there’s more to the mime-like color scheme of his house than just a disinterest in decorating. He doesn’t seem to like anything that Thais suggests that they buy, and it’s not just the anxiety-inducing price tags. He actually likes the white and gray that fills his living space.
Yikes
Thais very reasonably wonders why he brought her to a furniture store if he’s not interested in buying anything, even just to appease her. That is a fair question.
Patrick isn’t accustomed to compromise
For years, he has made his own decor choices with his own money, because it’s just been him (and John) in the picture. Thais tells him that he needs to accept that having a partner changes that.
The sales clerk makes the best observations
While Thais is realizing that this stingy version of Patrick is so different from the man she knew in Brazil, Gustavo tells the camera that his biggest impression is that these two don’t really know each other. Little things like taste in decor, being surprised by each other’s preferences, are a surprise at this stage of a relationship. He’s right.
Finally, a compromise
Gustavo suggested that they pick out one thing as a compromise. They settle upon a very affordable glass jug. Even this, which has a price tag so low that one doesn’t need Patrick’s money to own it, clearly has Patrick on edge. Growing up in extreme poverty, he didn’t have decorations, so the idea of something that sits out on display doesn’t make sense to him.
But that’s not the point
As Thais says, Patrick should care about her and how she feels in their home. That’s part of being partners.
Back home, the disagreement continues
Patrick objects to Thais spending “all” of their budget on decorations, at which point she points out that she has no idea what their budget is because he has not shared his finances with her. He won’t, he says, until they get married, and for now, he expects her to be happy that he’s meeting all of her needs and many of her wants. Dude, no.
That’s not reasonable
Thais reminds him that he signed on for looking after her when he proposed, especially given that she cannot legally work for a long time. Pampering your partner is great, but she can feel that he’s not trusting her with basic, necessary info.
Patrick has trouble opening up
Growing up in poverty didn’t just make him uncomfortable with the idea of spending money on decorations — his childhood has also made it hard for him to be vulnerable. Obviously, this is something that he should work on if he values Thais as a partner.
They work things out
But the argument is clearly not yet over, and we’ll see more of this next week. Finger’s crossed that they both have more conflict resolution skills than we’ve seen so far!
