May Anton Yelchin rest in peace.
The 27-year old actor was killed in a freak accident in June of 2016 when his body got trapped between a car that rolled down his driveway and a security gate.
The rising star had completed filming on the latest Star Trek movie and had a bright future on the big screen in front of him.
As we send condolences to his loved ones, we take a few minutes below to look back on the career Yelchin had produced prior to this tragic incident:
Alpha Dog
In 2006, Yelchin portrayed an innocent teenager named Zack in Alpha Dog. Of the actor’s young man, who was taken hostage and held for random, USA TODAY critic Claudia Puig said Yelchin’s performance was “heartbreakingly endearing” and the film’s “emotional center.”
Charlie Bartlett
In 2007’s Charlie Bartlett, Yelchin took on the title character, a precocious teen who acted as a shrink to his peers. Later, upon his death, co-star Kat Dennings Tweeted that Yelchin (pictured here with Robert Downey Jr.) “was one of my best friends.”
Star Trek
In 2009, Yelchin came on board the new Star Trek franchise as Russian navigator Chekov. His character served a a source of comic relief and he went on to appear in the next two movies as well.
Like Crazy
Like Crazy was released in 2011 and won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance Film Festival in 2011. It featured Yelchin as Jacob, one half of a long-distance couple (along with Felicity Jones’ Anna).
Fright Night
Yelchin was a co-lead in Fight Night, a horror movie that focused on a neighbor who believed his neighbor (Colin Farrell) was a vampire.
The Beaver
Yelchin played Porter Black in 2011’s The Beaver, a film that starred Mel Gibson as a troubled father who communicated via hand puppet.
Terminator Salvation
Yelchin played Kyle Reese in this edition of the Terminator franchise. It hit theaters in 2009.
The Smurfs
You didn’t see Yelchin in either The Smurfs movies. But he voiced the character of Clumsy Smurf.
Green Room
Green Room (2015) starred Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Alia Shawkat as part of punk band who found themselves under threat of neo-Nazi skinheads after witnessing a murder at a remote club in the Pacific Northwest.
Star Trek Into Darkness
Yelchin continued his role of Chekov in the 2013 follow-up Star Trek Into Darkness.
Star Trek: Beyond
Yelchin will take on the role of Chekov one final time, in Star Trek: Beyond. It will sadly come out after his death.
