During last weekend’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Kimberly and Usman were still fighting.
Usman felt embarrassed about her behavior in front of his friend.
These antics — the milkshake dumping and the crying — worried him.
How, he wondered, could he introduce her to his family if she acts like this?
Usman also wondered hoe he could marry her.
Meanwhile, Kimberly felt like Usman was telling her what she wanted to hear to string her along.
She felt blindsided by his friend’s description of his plural marriage, because his wives live together and receive equal love.
That is not what she wants. And it is not what she expected based upon Usman’s promises.
In the promo teaser for Season 7, Episode 6, Kimberly and Usman are still trying to work things out.
They both know that this is an unhealthy relationship. Is there a cure, or is it time to pull the plug?
Let’s take a look at a careful breakdown of what they are both saying ahead of the new episode.
“I’m accepting a lot”
Kimberly Menzies reminds Usman that, in addition to taking multiple trips to see him and showering him with expensive gifts, she is also willing to put up with things for him that she would not accept from anyone else. Obviously, the main point of contention here is Usman’s plans for a second wife. He has been moving the goalpost little by little, and (at the risk of mixing metaphors) Kimberly is tired of him boiling her frog. She wants him to acknowledge how much she is already putting up with and stop adding new things.
Usman is not impressed
As far as he is concerned, Kimberly is barely making any sacrifices in this relationship.
How so?
Apparently, Usman sees himself as the one who is truly giving it his all — four times as much as Kimberly. (We have noticed that some West African English-speakers on this show use percentages to discuss things that Americans would express in other ways, so perhaps he does not mean this literally)
Sorry, what?
Kimberly is tearful and upset, but asks what exactly Usman is “doing” that causes him to award himself so much credit.
Oh
Usman says that women from all over the world are sliding into his DMs and begging for his yam.
But he turns them all down
This is, in his mind, a profound and monumental contribution to their relationship.
He says “yes” to Kimberly
Wait, isn’t turning down other partners but not turning down your partner a pretty key element of monogamous relationships? Like … why does he get a special Big Boy Award for it? Is this because Usman is “famous” or because of their age gap?
“You’re not doing me a f–king favor”
Kimberly reminds Usman that this generous gift of fidelity from him is not, you know, above-and-beyond.
“I love you at your age”
Usman continues: “And you love me at my age. Do you think you are doing a favor for me?” What point is even trying to make?
Kimberly is clearly unhappy
We don’t know the rest, because that is where the teaser promo ends. But Kimberly is visibly displeased. At least her nails look incredible.
