On 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 7, Episode 3, an old villain makes a return.
Angela is back. She’s suspicious of Michael — and has her eyes on a new man.
Bilal is giving Shaeeda the silent treatment after her dispute with Shahidah. When he does speak, it’s to lecture her.
Ed has Liz so wrapped around his finger that she’s introducing him to wary friends. Of course, Ed takes the first opportunity to remind her exactly who he is.
Jenny and a newly disowned Sumit have a lot of emotions to process.
Jovi and Yara meet Miss Gwen on neutral ground, where their goal is to make amends. But there are clearly dark clouds on the horizon.
Kimberly flies out to Nigeria to see Usman, who is ready to marry her … but unsure if he’s willing to kiss her in public.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi
We see Angela at her very first yoga class, where she is sipping on a Coke. Our conspiracy theory is that she’s trying to present a new, mellowed out image after pressure from the network. Will viewers forget how atrocious her behavior has been? Who can say?
Angela is a long-running villain on the franchise
These days, however, it has been a long time since she saw her husband. Michael Ilesanmi is still in Nigeria. Between the previous administration’s immigration policy and COVID-19, his marital visa underwent some serious delays. But there are other issues. She feels like Michael is no longer showing her affection, and that he’s just using her. Also, she is outraged that he created an Instagram account, and even angrier that he blocked her on it.
So Angela turned her attention elsewhere
She is still married. Michael’s visa is still in the works. But she is chatting with a new man, Billy. He is a Canadian man who “dances” with her on TikTok. Even if they were only friends, we all know that Angela would flip out if Michael danced with another woman over social media.
But they are way too flirty to be just friends
Billy worked as a stripper in the ’80s known as the Thief of Love. They call each other “sexy” during their video chats. Angela is also discussing plans to fly out to see Billy in Canada. Again, if Michael did even a tenth of this, Angela would fly him to a private island and hunt him for sport.
She claims to be heartbroken
Angela is apparently wondering for the first time if Michael, who is 23 years younger than she is, might be scamming her. Even if he is not, she is struggling to trust him during their time apart. She cries on camera about how she is older than he is and has less time. That is true, but … despite appearances, she is only in her mid-fifties. She’s old, yes, but not ancient.
Angela meets with her attorney
She speaks very bluntly of where things stand with Michael — including that he’s no longer interested in seeing her breasts, and how they don’t have sex over video chat anymore.
This man cannot be getting enough for this
Her attorney admits to the camera that Angela is not the only client who sometimes sees him as a counselor rather than an attorney. He did not need or want to hear about Angela’s sex life. No one did.
There is one part of this that is still relevant
She talks about her furious demands with Michael that he take down his Instagram account. His reply? “Send me 5k I will take it down.” Angela believes that her first refusal to send him money is what prompted him to start rebelling against her demands.
But the clock is ticking
Angela’s attorney tells her that Michael’s visa could come any day now. It could come in a month. It could come tomorrow. So she needs to make a decision, one way or the other, about the future of her marriage.
Bilal Hazziez and Shaeeda Sween
After Shaeeda and Shahidah’s conflict in the coffee shop, Bilal is giving his wife the silent treatment. He is in bed, reading a religious analysis of the bible.
Shaeeda is making him breakfast in bed
Even though Bilal is avoiding speaking to her, she assembles some freshly brewed tea and a light snack to bring upstairs to him. Shaeeda feels that she did nothing wrong by standing her ground, and is proud of how she did not stand up in anger when Shahidah did, but she wants her husband to talk to her again.
Bilal is still not in a good mood
He trades giving Shaeeda the silent treatment for giving her a lecture. He insists that Shaeeda should not allow other people’s behavior to dictate how she acts. That is good advice … but it is a little unclear why he is giving it to her. After all, she remained in her seat. Shahidah is the one who stood up in fury, removed her audio equipment, and stormed off. The only thing that Shaeeda could have done differently is, what, pretend that she was not unhappy?
Shaeeda doesn’t want to take it
She had hoped for peace, but that didn’t mean that she was willing to just accept disrespect from Bilal’s ex-wife. Clearly, she never expected that their confrontation would explode like that.
Shaeeda tries to make Bilal understand
Of course, Shahidah is not the only bully in Shaeeda’s life … but we don’t think that she’s ready for that conversation.
Ed Brown and Liz Woods
Ed crawls over the bed and gives Liz a kiss, to her relief. He had just been out with his friend, Rich. Past experience has told her that Ed’s mood will change after these meetups with his longtime friend. Not this time. Ed wants his friend in his life, but Liz is his fiancee. He chooses her.
They meet up with Liz’s friend, Bery
They have been friends for many years. He seemingly does not know Ed, except by reputation. After dumping Liz 8 times over text message, leaving her vile voicemails, and other toxic behaviors … well, Ed has no one to blame for himself for how others feel about him. Bery, however, is keeping an open mind.
Ed and Bery only talk a little
When Ed excuses himself to the restroom (I know that they film much longer than what we see on screen, but it’s never fun to have to go to the bathroom in a public place), Bery and Liz have a heart-to-heart. She tears up while talking about how much she loves Ed. Girl … you deserve better.
Later, they go for a ride
Ed loves motorbikes or whatever these contraptions are properly called, to the point of obsession. The person at the store very bluntly mentions wondering if they’ll have kids, which spurs a discussion after Liz’s first ride as a passenger. Ed has some sperm frozen just in case, but right now he wants to be a stepdad to Liz’s daughter.
Another fun activity? Hobbies
Liz says that she loves hobbies with Ed, but Ed is a photographer by trade. Sometimes, as we have seen with other couples on other seasons, take-your-partner-to-work-day kind of sucks.
Tonight, they’re photographing Liz’s friend, Alex
Alex is a professional model who needs new headshots (which are so, so expensive). While Alex does nothing wrong, Ed being himself turns this into a tense photoshoot.
Ed seemingly can’t take a critique — or even a question
When Liz points out that Alex seems to have “no neck” in a photo, Ed insists that the pic that he snapped is perfect, actually. He then calls Liz unprofessional. Liz is hurt, especially after seeing how Ed seemingly cannot help but flirt with her friend. Eventually, Liz heads off, telling Alex that she’ll see her tomorrow. Alex very wisely says nothing but can clearly tell that something is wrong. Ed ignores his fiancee to keep showing off his photography to the hot blonde. Classic Ed, huh?
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh
After Sumit’s parents disowned him and left, Jenny freaked out. She didn’t understand the conversation, and was filled with anxiety and dread that Sumit would (once again) put their happiness above their love. So she lashed out at him. He calmed her down, but they did have to talk about it.
Sumit had a very hard evening
He had hoped that Jenny would lend him emotional support after his mother insulted and disowned him. Instead, he felt like he fought two emotional battles, not one.
He is also second-guessing himself, as she feared
Sumit believes that Jenny will never understand the dynamic between him and his parents or the cultural importance of it. Maybe? But we should remember that India does not have a monopoly on this. Almost every culture reinforces family bonds, even when relatives and families are toxic — it’s just a matter of degree, and whether a person resists that cultural imperative. Anyway, Sumit fears what his life will be like without his (toxic) family in it.
Jenny is sorry for yelling at Sumit
But she still wants him to act more like her husband. They’re married, and she wants him to show his commitment even when his family tests it.
Jovi Dufren and Yara Zaya
They meet up with fan-favorite, Gwen Eymard, Jovi’s mom. After an explosive fight between Jovi and Gwen (which happened between seasons), there has been a lot of tension. Now, they’re meeting up in person on a boat to patch things up. Hopefully.
Gwen admits that she felt blindsided
She didn’t realize that Yara felt neglected, or that Jovi was so angry about it. She also reminds them, and not unfairly, that she’s not a nanny. She loves Mylah, but she can’t always make a three-hour trip to watch her granddaughter. Unlike Jovi, whose “babysitter” comment rubbed viewers the wrong way, Gwen genuinely is not Mylah’s parent. It is not unreasonable for her to feel miffed at her son and her daughter-in-law seeing her as un-hired help.
Jovi apologizes for venting so much anger at her
Meanwhile, Yara takes responsibility, admitting that cultural differences may have been at play. She misses Gwen, who is one of her closest friends in the US. But at home, in Ukraine, she feels that one might as well fend off a grandmother with a stick because childcare is such an expectation. Many Americans do rely upon parents or other family to help with childcare, but generations of focus upon the “nuclear family” and the mobility of American life mean that this is less expected than it might be in parts of Europe.
Speaking of Europe …
Yara misses her family. It has been a few years, and she would love to visit them once she gets her documents. Gwen is anxious about Yara traveling to Europe and especially Ukraine (though her mom is in Croatia at the moment) during what are, when this is filmed, simply heightened tensions. American analysts had gone public with fears of a coming war when this filmed. News in that area of Europe, however, seemed to suggest to Yara and her family that Russian aggression would not actually lead to war.
Switching gears …
At home, Jovi enters the apartment and says that he has big news for Yara. Her refusal to guess is genuinely so funny, instead quipping that he’s pregnant.
But the news is great!
Yara has been invited to give her green card interview. It’s not a guaranteed thing, but it’s fantastic news. Yara fires off several jokes (telling Jovi to pack his things, then revising it by saying to wait until her interview and then pack his things, was very funny) while dancing in celebration.
And later
Yara speaks remotely with her mother, who says that local news suggests that it won’t lead to war. Yara notes that American news is bracing for Russia to invade Ukraine, which they both hope will not happen. We all know that this was filmed before February 24, 2022.
Kimberly Menzies and Usman Umar
Kimberly is so, so excited to fly to Nigeria. Her handsome son, Jamal, drives her to the airport, and even loves her so much that he endures listening to Usman’s music in the car. (Actually, Jamal compliments him, albeit not too strongly). Like Kimberly’s mother (may she rest in peace), he hopes that his mom is not setting herself up for heartbreak.
Usman blows a kiss at his favorite person
We see Usman humping the sink and hyping himself up to see Kim-bah-lee. Sure.
But will he show her affection this time?
By his own admission, Usman isn’t sure if he’ll be willing to kiss Kimberly in public. In the past, she has felt rejected over this. He’s playing it by ear. And by lips, we suppose.
But he’s totally ready to marry her
There is just one little problem, however. Usman wants kids, for cultural expectation reasons. Kimberly cannot give him children.
That’s what Wife #2 will be for
Usman notes that this is not uncommon in Nigeria, but he is unsure if Kimberly will really be as open to this as she has claimed.
He greets her at the airport
Usman has gifts for her — a pair of plushies. They are cute, but since she has given him a PS5 and a Macbook and who knows what else, we’re not seeing a very balanced relationship.
They’re staying together at the hotel
This time, there’s no pretense of separate rooms, which is at least an improvement. Kimberly wants his yammy. Usman also orders room service in a very imperious manner.
Kimberly also has a gift for Usman
She listens to his music and reps his face on shirts all of the time, so now it’s his turn. She had this shirt custom made for him.
The plan is to bone
“Yammy” — actually, Usman lists a series of other euphemisms, including “African ingredient” — is part of the night’s agenda, but they end up eating room service first.
They wake up together the next day
(Or one of them called production and pretended to wake up beside the other — we know how this goes) It turns out that they fell asleep before anyone’s yam could slip into anyone else.
They go out for a day of fun
It’s not yet time to meet his family, so they’re taking these days to have fun and be together. Kimberly says that she is more of a “thrill-seeker” than Usman is. Outside of the bedroom, anyway. Not touchin’ that one.
At the table, however, they get into a complicated conversation
Kimberly asks where the second wife would live. She apparently never wants to see her. Ever. Usman feels taken aback.
In his mind, Kimberly is being insecure
He also feels that she is causing problems on purpose, but she points out that she simply asked where Wife #2 would live. If the conditions that he wants aren’t right, Kimberly says, she can return to San Diego. That said … she has also admitted to the camera that she will simply give up on dating and love if this relationship doesn’t work out.
