From The Hills to the New York Times bestseller list?

Maybe that’s pushing it, but the MTV reality star’s name is officially gracing the cover of her first novel, L.A. Candy, which hits stores June 16.

Conrad’s publishing debut is a fictional story about a 19-year-old girl named Jane Roberts who has not-so-subtle similarities to the author.

“Roberts can’t wait to start living it up,” the official book synopsis says. “She may be in L.A. for an internship, but Jane plans to play as hard as she works and has enlisted her BFF Scarlett to join in the fun.”

Wonder when Scarlett stabs Jane in the back repeatedly, gets a loser boyfriend and has kinds of plastic surgery. Yes, Heidi Montag, we went there.

Conrad’s novel is said to be the first in a three-book series about the protagonist, so there’s room for all kinds of creative liberties in the new volumes.

In the novel, the two are approached by a producer who wants them to be on a reality version of Sex and the City. It’s like art imitating life imitating art!

The book is about “what it’s like to come of age in Hollywood while starring in a reality TV show, written by a girl, Lauren Conrad, who has experienced it all firsthand,” the synopsis of L.A. Candy says, and it’s hard to dispute that.

We just hope that whomever LC got to ghostwrite this work of fiction took the time to say “like” and “seriously” every other word.
