Amber Portwood was arrested on July 5 for felony domestic assault.
But the worst may still be to come for the veteran Teen Mom OG cast member.
Four days after the incident that led to this arrest, in which Amber reportedly hit boyfriend Andrew Glennon with a shoe while he was cradling their one-year old son… Glennon has filed for custody of little James.
For FULL custody, that is.
This is the first step in what ought to be a long, painful and likely very ugly legal battle between Amber and Andrew, who have been dating for nearly two years now.
As we await word in response from Portwood, scroll down for the latest on this unfortunate situation…
Let’s Set Amber’s Parental Scene
She has two children, a 10-year old daughter named Leah with ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley and a one-year old named James with Andrew Glennon.
Who Has Custody of Leah?

Shirley has full custody of the 10-year old. He and Amber split many years ago and are now on solid terms, with Gary even Tweeting his best wishes to his ex after her arrest on July 5.
This is What He Wrote:

As for James?
He was born in May of 2018 to Amber and Andrew. The baby lives in Indiana with the couple — and he sadly was right in the middle of what led to her arrest last week.
Can We Go Over What Happened?
Yes. According to Indiana records, Glennon texted 911 at 2:14 a.m. on Friday, July 5. This is what his text read: “I need help. My life and my son’s life is in danger.”
Okay. So Then Police Arrived on the Scene…
… and, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Ryan Salisbury, they were told that an argument between Amber and Andrew commenced around 2 a.m.
What Does Andrew Allege Transpired?
“Ms. Portwood grew increasingly agitated until she struck him with her shoe in the right side of his neck,” Salisbury wrote in the court document.
Amber Does Not Dispute What Happened
“Ms. Portwood stated that she did indeed strike (her boyfriend) with a shoe,” Salisbury added in his filing, adding: “But [she] stated that ‘it was in the shoulder and I barely hit him.'”
Is There Documented Proof or Evidence?

Yes. An officer at the house says he observed scratches and red marks on Andrew’s neck. Also, an evidence technician took photographs of the injuries.
And James was Present?

Not simply present. Glennon, as has been reported, was holding the couple’s son in his right arm at the time, the police say, although the child was not injured. Thank God, right?
Glennon Also Said This Wasn’t the First Time He Had Been Attacked
Glennon also told officers that Portwood has hit him numerous times in the past and has threatened him countless times, as well.
Portwood is Free… For Now
A spokesperson for the Marion County Jail in Indiana has confirmed that a woman unrelated to Portwood bailed her out at 4:30 p.m. on a cash bond of $2,000 on Saturday, July 6.
That Brings Us to The Latest Bombshell:

On Tuesday, July 9, Glennon filed legal papers that demanded full and primary custody of James. BOOM.
What Else Do We Know About This Filing?
Not much at the moment. E! News has described the motion as “a petition for an emergency hearing regarding the paternity and custody of their child.” It’s safe to assume Amber and Andrew will therefore soon meet in court to determine the fate of James.
Why Might Andrew Have a Case?

Aside from this latest alleged assault and arrest, you mean? In 2010, Amber was also arrested and charged with felony domestic battery and neglect of a dependent, along with misdemeanor domestic battery, after allegedly slapping and choking now-ex-fiance Gary Shirley in front of their then-toddler daughter, Leah.
She Was Sentenced to Five Years in Jail for the Attack
Technically, she was sentenced to this jail stint — which lasted a total of 17 months — due to a probation violation after she was caught with prescription pills in 2012. But it all stemmed from that arrest for assault.
Portwood is the Second Teen Mom in Danger of Losing Her Kid(s)
Jenelle Evans DID actually lose custody of her two youngest children this spring and early summer. Authorities deemed her unfit as a parent after husband David Eason shot and killed their family dog a few months back.
She Just Got Her Children Back
Ironically, two days before Amber’s arrest, a judge decreed that evidence against Eason and Evans was not sufficient. He ruled in their favor and returned young Ensley and Kaiser to her care.
Can Amber Turn to Jenelle for Advice?
Most definitely not. The two are major rivals and even feuded just this past week.
Amber Also Has Been Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder
She opened up about her mental health with her cousin Krystal on last yearâÂÂs season finale of Teen Mom OG, revealing she was having a hard time with online bullying.
This is What She Said at the Time:

âÂÂThey canâÂÂt accept the fact that I have postpartum in any way,â she said, referring to people online who criticized her parenting. âÂÂI just didnâÂÂt know what it felt like because IâÂÂd never experienced that before.âÂÂ
And She Added:
“This show has ruined my name. This show has not shown who I am as a person. They donâÂÂt show the funny side of me, they show bad mom, they show all that sâÂÂ, they show the struggle, they show me crying, they show postpartum. So I go, okay, thatâÂÂs whatâÂÂs going on in my life so I guess thatâÂÂs true. IâÂÂm over it.”
Portwood Also Said She Thought Seriously About Suicide After James Was Born

She also said it was Glennon who recognized something was wrong at the time and remained with Amber on the night in question, making sure she didn’t harm herself.
Amber Remains Open About Her Mental Health Struggles
“Obviously since the day we started this show, I’ve been f-cking nuts, so I mean, come on,” she even said on the July 8 episode of Teen Mom OG.
She Said This Months Before Her Arrest

“You know what I mean,” she even said on air, seemingly previewing what was going to happen down the line. “Like, I’ve been beating up people, going in jail and all that.”
Willl She Go to Jail? Will She Lose Custody?
Both outcomes are plausible. Stay tuned to The Hollywood Gossip for the latest news and updates.
