90 Day Fiance fans are still coming to term with Ashley Martson and Jay Smith’s fraud scandal.
Ashley and Jay are grappling with something much worse.
Jay took to social media to reveal that Ashley’s ongoing health battle has taken a turn for the worse.
She is back in the hospital.
Some fans may not believe a word that they say these days, but Ashley never lied about having lupus.
Ashley missed Valentine’s Day over this. We hope that she feels better soon.
It’s good news, bad news time

The good news has to do with Jay, and it’s also how we learned the bad news
Jay is back on Instagram
So, remember after his and Ashley’s fraud scandal broke, and how they both vanished from instagram, Ashley returned, and Jay never did? Well, it turns out that Jay’s account was accidentally disabled. We’re guessing that his IG was spammed with reports as angry fans vented their feelings of betrayal. Anyway, it’s back.
On the positive side
Jay shared this photo of him and his wife in the snow, saying that he had waited for a long time to post the pic. Notably, it almost never snows anywhere in Jamaica, where Jay was born. Even on Blue Mountain Peak, snow is extremely rare.
And that is how we learned this
Jay shared a short clip of Ashley looking understandably unhappy and tired after spending six days — including Valentine’s Day — in the hospital.
Ashley has lupus
Earlier this year, she was found unresponsive at home and was rushed to the hospital
She had gone into kidney failure
At first, doctors believed that Ashley needed a transplant. Then, it turned out, she did not — which is why she closed her GoFundMe. A medication was working — though we don’t know if it is still working.
So, why is Ashley in the hospital this time?
Neither she nor Jay initially revealed the cause of her hospitalization, though we can all naturally assume that it is related to her lupus.
Fortunately, Ashley has Jay
“HeâÂÂs always there for me,” she told fans and followers in a Q&A session on Instagram.
It’s good that Jay can support his wife
It’s just heartbreaking that she has to go through this at all. A health battle like this is devastating, scary, and expensive.
What does this hospitalization mean?
It is possible that it means that the medication that she is trying didn’t work … which may mean that she has to get a kidney transplant.
That could be tricky
Not only is a kidney transplant a major surgery with a lot of potential for complications, but Ashley and Jay may find it a lot harder to get crowdfunded donations this time around.
Why? Because of their fraud scandal
While Ashley definitely, absolutely has lupus, a lot of fans simply don’t trust her and Jay after the stunt that they pulled on Instagram.
See, they were faking leaks
Even Ashley and Jay’s castmates felt betrayed by the couple’s deception as they used “leaked” photos for sympathy. Honestly, we still don’t fully understand what was going through Jay and Ashley’s minds at the time.
They’re super sorry about it
Even if they just wanted to share a few photos to get around their NDA, fans are still wary of anything that the couple says or posts.
But Ashley isn’t faking her illness

If she and Jay do ask for donations to help pay for medical costs, we hope that 90 Day Fiance fans will take a deep breath and consider the request.
These two were not prepared for fame

Sure, they were happy to put their relationship out there. it’s keeping it a secret, even denying that they were really together, that got to them. That’s hard on a newly married couple.
And they’ve quit the show
Ashley revealed that the couple quit, growing tired of all the fakery
Fans will still see them again, however
Ashley and Jay filmed for 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? That season will still air.
So what comes next?
Hopefully, Ashley will make a full recovery. Whatever you think of her and the fake “leaks,” she does not deserve this.
There may even be babies on the horizon
Ashley did have a hysterectomy years ago, but she also had her eggs frozen. She says that she’d be open to having babies with Jay. Notably, she is already a mother.
Jay isn’t ready yet, though …

Remember, Ashley is in her early 30s. Jay is all of 20 years old. They’re both adults, but they’re at very different stages of their lives.
First, Ashley needs to get better
We wish her a full and speedy recovery
We’re just glad she’s not alone
Having Jay there to hold her hands may not change her health, but it’ll make it all a little more bearable.
