For a woman who stars on a show called Teen Mom OG, Bristol Palin certainly isn’t very sympathetic to the plight of unwed young mothers.
Or at least that’s the impression we get from her latest comments on the subject.
As The Ashley’s Reality Roundup points out, Bristol went on an Instagram rant this week, and she made what many feel are deeply insensitive comments about teen pregnancy.
Some fans are even citing the remarks as proof that Bristol never should have been cast on the show in the first place.

Bristol Under Fire
Many Teen Mom OG fans were not thrilled when Bristol Palin was cast on the show, and they’re citing her latest comments as further evidence that she just doesn’t belong.
Blast From the Past
Unlike Cheyenne Floyd, who also joined the cast this season, Bristol was an honest-to-goodness teen mom at one point.
The Palins
She welcomed her first child in 2008 … the same year that her mother gained national fame as John McCain’s running mate.
Different Strokes
Needless to say, Bristol’s upbringing was quite different from those of the other Teen Moms, most of whom grew up in relative poverty.

But despite the fact that her mother was once one of the most famous women in the country, Bristol says she didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth.

“People have this assumption that I haven’t struggled with finances but my parents cut me off lonnng long ago, like when I got knocked up 10+ years ago (which good parents should do),†Bristol wrote on Instagram this week.
Yikes
Obviously, it’s the “which good parents should do” part that has people pissed off.
Really?
Is Bristol implying that young or unwed mothers deserve to be punished by their families?
Family Ties
Bristol is forever touting the importance of family values, but she really doesn’t think relatives should help one another when they’re able to do so?
The Struggle
These days, Bristol rakes in a cool $250,000 for a single season of Teen Mom OG.
Easy Money
And obviously, that doesn’t even account for the other revenue streams available to her, such as Instagram endorsements.
Painfully Out of Touch
But while Bristol has been well off her entire life, she says she’s had to work hard for every penny.
She Went There
In fact, Bristol is of the opinion that she’s had to work harder than the other Teen Moms, most of whom have had a TV show for their entire adult lives.

“Obviously, I’ve had opportunities that I have accepted and worked my ass off in, but I have always had a job,†Bristol wrote.

“I worked full time at a doctor’s office for over 7.5 years. As a single mom you have to put your head down and work… you can’t try to ‘keep up with the joneses,’” Palin added.
Minor Details
Of course, Bristol doesn’t mention that she’s starred on multiple reality shows before this one and has been wealthy since long before she welcomed her first child.
The Nerve
Despite that, Bristol actually thinks she’s in a position to offer advice to other moms who might be struggling.
Sacrifice
“You have to sacrifice and work you’re a$$ off, you have to be smart,†Bristol added. “Don’t waste money you don’t have.”
Priorities
“Are nails important? Or a college savings account for your kids? You cannot be prideful,” writes a smug-as-hell Bristol.
Advice on Hard Work … From Bristol Effing Palin
“Drive a sh–ty car, live within your means, don’t beat yourself up for working long hours…your kids will see your hustle—put [money] aside for them, for your own retirement—even a little bit at a time helps!†Palin added.
Touchy Subject
When a fan rightly pointed out that Bristol has no idea what she’s talking, the reality star got defensive.

“[I wish people knew] how humble and independent I am, and how hard I work,†Bristol wrote. “I hate being painted as entitled spoiled stuck-up girl, because I’m not.â€Â

As The Ashley points out, Bristol admitted in a 2009 People magazine interview that she was still being supported by her parents.

“I don’t like having my parents have to pay,†she said after claiming it would be “impossible” for her to buy her own baby formula. “It’s punishment enough feeling the guilt of having them help me out financially.â€Â
Allow Us to Clarify
So when Bristol stated that young moms should support themselves, she actually meant they should sponge off their parents and then lie about supporting themselves in order to shame other moms. Just wanted to make sure we’re all on the same page with that.
