Has another one bitten the dust?
That’s what fans are left wondering today after Amber Portwood quit Teen Mom OG in a Twitter rant just prior to the airing of Monday night’s new episode.
Farrah Abraham was fired from the show last year, so the “OG” part of the title is starting to become wildly inaccurate.
But did Amber really tender her resignation, or was she just venting on social media?
Here’s what we know about the situation thus far:
Mad Amber
Amber has always been known for her quick temper, but fans were surprised by just how outraged the longtime Teen Mom OG star became prior to Monday night’s episode.
Amber Is Done!
Portwood stunned fans when she announced that she would be leaving the show that made her famous, apparently due to frustrations with the way she’s portrayed on air.

“I can’t do this anymore,” Amber tweeted. “I have to quit this show,â€Â
A Little More Detail
When a fan asked for clarification, Amber revealed that she’s upset over the way her life has been depicted in recent episodes.
Amber’s Heartache
“The heartache this show has put me through is too much to bear anymore,†she wrote.

“If I will not be shown then there’s nothing more to do,” she added.

“My name will not get smeared anymore,” Portwood continued. “I hope everyone is resting easy with the money they’ve made off of heartache and pain that I’ve endured.â€Â
Why So Furious?
Naturally, fans expected Amber to be portrayed in a particularly negative light on Monday night’s episode … but that’s not quite what happened.
A Sad Revelation
Instead, the drama of Amber’s storyline revolved around the revelation that she had suffered a miscarriage during her relationship with Matt Baier.
Amber’s Pain
Amber revealed that the incident occurred during a trip to Vegas, during which Baier had one of his famous tantrums.
Odd Timing
No doubt it was a painful episode to watch, but it wasn’t one that portrayed Amber in a particularly negative light.
A Good Idea?
A surprising number of Amber’s followers expressed support for her decision to quit the show, pointing out that it seems to cause her a great deal of stress.

“Honestly you and several other moms have outgrown this show,†wrote one such follower.

“Look at your life now, you have so much more to give to this world,” the fan added. “I’m super proud of you & how you’ve changed so much. We’re here for you, whatever your decision is.â€Â
A Word of Caution
Other fans pointed out that Amber is very unlikely to find another job that will pay her so much and require her to do so little.

“Money is too easy and they pay too much,” the follower tweeted. “U can only do so many ‘reality star boot camps’ after Teen Mom ends. Get that money while someone still wants to pay u it!â€Â

“No there are other things that I will do and it will be to help people, like I’ve always only wanted to do!†Portwood responded.
Good Intentions
It’s nice that Amber plans to devote her time to helping others, but we probably don’t need to tell you that’s easier said than done …
Reality Hits Hard
It’s easy to not care about money when one is well off, but Amber recently welcomed her second child, and those TMOG earnings would likely dry up fast if she were to quit the show.

Don’t get us wrong — if Amber is sincere in her desire to devote herself to public service, she should do it.

We just hope that she’s aware that the transition from reality star earning $300,000/year to social worker making one-tenth that amount will be a difficult one.

It sounds like Amber has a difficult decision to make. Maybe she really feels that she’s outgrown Teen Mom OG and will move on to something more fulfilling. But our guess is that she was simply blowing off some steam on social media, as we all do from time to time.
