Amy Winehouse has been arrested and taken into custody in connection with an alleged plan to derail a criminal case against her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

“A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by appointment at an East London police station,” a police spokeswoman said, without naming Amy Winehouse.

“[The woman] is currently in custody. The arrest was in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice.”

Amy Winehouse‘s U.S. representative confirmed the singer’s arrest, saying: “I can confirm that she did go in voluntarily to be interviewed and was placed under arrest, as is common practice in the U.K., before being questioned.”

The arrest of Amy Winehouse relates to a witness-tampering charge against husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, who’s accused of assaulting a barman in June.

He is currently in jail awaiting trial. As is British custom, police do not publicly name people who are arrested – only if they are later charged with a crime.

Winehouse was forced to give fingerprints and a saliva swab to police, as “any person arrested is required to give both DNA and fingerprints,” the police said.

Another source denied a recent News of the World report that Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil have a suicide pact if they both are put behind bars.
