George Ortiz, a celebrity hairstylist who was frequently featured on Project Runway, has passed away.
He was only 45 years old.
If that wasn’t heartbreaking enough, his death is being investigated as a suicide by asphyxiation, according to the Associated Press.
George shared a New York apartment with roommates, and they were the ones who found George’s body early on Tuesday morning.
Police said he was last seen alive on Sunday, but on Saturday, he reportedly wrote "Don’t cry for me" on his Facebook account.
The tragic news came as a shock to the people close to him, but so many of them were quick to share their stories about what a wonderful person George was.
"He was a good dude," his 75-year-old neighbor stated. "He was a real nice guy."
"He’s speak to me, he’d just say hello — he was always singing. He thought he was a tenor. He used to sing high-pitched. He was real friendly."
George’s neighbor added "Matter of fact, it would seem like it was three days ago me and him was talking, you know, he said hello."
TV host Scott Nevins hopped on Facebook to write "George Ortiz was a personal acquaintance of mine. He was always full of light and laughter (and a snarky comment!). He was adored by many. This breaks my heart."
Another friend of his wrote "I am so devastated by this I can’t sleep. We were friends a long time and he was doing such a brilliant job on my film. This is such a tragedy. Why oh why didn’t he reach out?"
Photographer Amy Postle said "Wow my heart is breaking at this news. Farewell sweet friend. It was a joy to work with you for so many years."
Yet another friend wrote "This is just devastating for all who knew, loved and worked with him. He was an immensely passionate person with a giant heart and a great sense of humor."
Former Project Runway contestant Kristen Haskins Simms wrote "I am deeply saddened to learn about the death of George Ortiz! This is just so terrible! He really made my time on Project Runway fun."
"So full of life and sass. Handsome. My heart and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans."
"A true talent. I know many of us are in shock right now."
Even Teresa Giudice took the time to tweet "So sad to hear about George Ortiz from Project Runway."
By all accounts, George was an incredible person, full of kindness and always with a smile.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
What a tragedy.
