Hillary and Donald Showed Up!
Well, sort of. In order to encourage young people to vote, Cena dressed like Hillary Clinton and Victoria Justice dressed like Donald Trump and it was… scary.
Two Legends Collide
Kobe Bryant presented Justin Timberlake with the Decade Award, considering the singer has a record 23 Teen Choice Awards on his resume. The artist left fans with a nice message, encouraging teens to “be the greatest generation yet.”
A Selfie Challenge
At one point, in an effort to make the show about the fans as much as possible, the hosts declared a 30-second selfie challenge, where they went around snapping as many selfies as they could in that short amount of time with folks in attendance.
An Important Message
Jessica Alba and Ne-Yo led a tribute to victims of gun violence and their families.
Jennifer Garner Shines
Garner and her young Miracles from Heaven costar, Kiley Rogers, both accepted the surfboard for Choice Drama Movie. Whole holding her surfboard, Garner left a special message for all the children fighting their own medical battles: “Thanks to everyone, we were definitely the underdog in this category. That’s so exciting. It’s amazing to us the impact this movie was able to have, and have all your guys appreciate it means the world to us… All the kids who are in a hospital waiting for a miracle, don’t give up hope!”
OUCH
Laura Marano, of Austin & Ally fame, actually ran into the stage microphone. But she recovered nicely!
Cameo of the Night
And the award goes to… Laverne Cox! Her fun appearance to promote Fox’s upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show left us really wishing we could time-warp to October already.
Has Pokemon Gone Yet?
In the lamest and most obvious joke of the night, John Stamos told Sarah Hyland that he was too busy looking for a Pikachu to help her present an award.
Serayah Sings!
The Empire star brought the crowd to its feet with her first-ever live television performance. She belted out “Look But Don’t Touch” and included some seriously impressive choreography.
A Literal Show Stopper
Jason Derulo closed the show with a medley of hits. Simply put, it was outstanding.
