MMA fighter Jordan Parsons, 25, tragically passed away on May 4, after being brutally struck by an SUV a few days earlier in South Florida.

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker confirmed the tragedy.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” Coker wrote.

“Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport."

"But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around."

"He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates."

It’s unclear what specifically caused Parsons’ death at this time.

After the accident, he reportedly had to have part of his leg amputated, but officials have yet to release the athlete’s official cause of death.

Woven into this tragic story is an ongoing criminal investigation.

Incredibly, and disturbingly, the driver of the vehicle that struck the accomplished MMA fighter reportedly sped away from the scene.

Jordan was wearing headphones when we was hit by a silver Range Rover early Sunday. Police believe he couldn’t hear the SUV approaching.

Officials are currently searching for the hit and run driver.

According to reports, a damaged side mirror from the vehicle was left at the scene of the crime, but the case remains open at this time.

A substantial reward is being offered for anyone who has any information about the tragic incident that can lead to the driver’s arrest.
