It’s a long-running saying: a hero is only as entertaining as the villain against whom he faces off.

For this reason, The Flash Season 2 Episode 6 was one of the best installments of the year.

We opened the hour with the team having Linda Park pose as Dr. Light, getting into a fake fight with The Flash in order to summon Zoom.

This led to a strange montage where Linda could not get the hang of her light-zappers. It was really the episode’s only weak spot because it went on for so long.

Linda wasn’t really prepared to pull this fake-out off, yet Barry insisted that she go through with it. Joe theorized it was because Barry felt “cheated” out of not conquering Reverse Flash himself, which is why he’s so focused on besting Zoom.

In the end, “Dr. Light” “defeats” Flash and throws his emblem into the portal… yet Zoom does not show up.

Following this letdown, Barry confesses to Joe that he was partially right: he was guilty of taking out frustration based on what our Wells/Eobard said in his posthumous video, that Barry will never ever be happy.

Joe in turn begs Barry to not let Wells “win” by permitting such as notion to seep into his head.

And to instead go after what makes him happy. Be proactive, man. At the moment? That would Patty in her crisp white blouse, who was clearly awaiting a second kiss.

From there, Zoom actually does show up at CCPN to apprehend Linda and dangle her from the STAR Labs roof, prompting Barry to sprint down and save/catch her.

Hero ad villain proceed to get into it, with Barry aiming to “thunderbolt” his enemy.

However, Zoom catches and then throws back the bolt! Dude has serious talent!

“Harry” then arrives on the scene to shoot Zoom with a speed-dampening dart, yet the latter catches it and then jabs it onto Barry, appearing to break his back in the process.

We told you Zoom was a formidable opponent, right?

He proves as much as by parading a broken Flash around the city, showing him off to cameras at CCPN  and also before the CCPD. Even right in front of Team Flash itself.

“You made a mistake… a costly one,” Zoom says to Wells prior to thrusting one of his talons into Barry’s side.

Cisco, fortunately, pings Zoom with a serum dart, forcing him to speed away. But Barry is very much down for the count.

He later wakes up in a STAR Labs hospital bed. Unable to feel his legs.

What an episode! Relive it when you watch The Flash online and then sound off on all we just saw below in the Comments section.
