It’s been two weeks since we learned that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting divorced, but we’re no closer to knowing what prompted the first couple of country music to call it quits.
Some sources have blamed Shelton’s affair with Cady Groves. Others have claimed that Miranda cheated on Blake with multiple men.
Both or neither of those rumors could be true, but according to Radar Online, the real problem wasn’t infidelity, but the violent nature of Blake and Miranda’s relationship.
“It was a regular occurrence for Miranda to get very drunk and hit Blake,” says one insider. “The fights were awkward and embarrassing for everyone around them!”
The source adds that it was not uncommon to hear Miranda threaten Blake’s life during one of her wild, drunken rages.
“It would usually happen when she’d see him talking to another girl,” says the insider. “Miranda would drunkenly yell at him, ‘If you ever do that again, I’ll kill you!’"
One witness claims the first such incident happened during a party at Blake and Miranda’s house – just six months after they got married!
“[Miranda] didn’t like something that Blake said to another woman,” says the source. “She slapped him hard on the face and said, ‘Don’t talk like that! Next time you say that, I am going to put my foot in your ass!’”
Insiders say Blake would often restrain Miranda, but he never hit her back.
If the rumors are true, it sounds like divorce was the best decision for everyone involved!
