Blake Shelton has never been shy about his love of the bottle – or his odd fondness for the word “b-tch,” so it’s no surprise that his latest tweet combines the two.
Even so, in the wake of the news of his divorce from Miranda Lambert, Shelton probably should have selected his words a bit more carefully.
The newly-single country star and Voice coach tweeted Tuesday:
“Just got off the treadmill. This calls for a drink. B-tch…”
Again, Shelton is fond of boozy humor (“I’m so drunk I just tried to change the channel on my fish tank” remains one of our personal favorites).
However, considering the number of persistent rumors that Shelton’s drinking led to the end of his marriage, the tweet may have been ill-timed.
Shelton also frequently ends his tweets with the word “bitch,” so it would be a bit of a stretch to assume this was intended as a jab at Lambert.
Again, though, we’re guessing Blake’s PR team wishes it had some control over the crooner’s Twitter account in light of recent events.
Earlier today, we learned that Shelton blindsided Lambert when he filed for divorce, and that his lawyers even requested an order of protection.
They were probably more concerned with Lambert harming his property than his person, but it’s still an indication that this is far from amicable.
So for the time being, Blake might want to refrain from hurling insults, however harmlessly he’s intending to use them, on social media.
It’s not hard to give people the wrong idea, especially at a time when lots and lots of people are looking for any excuse to find it.
