If you’re all caught up on the battle for the Iron Throne (and if you’re not, we suggest you go watch Game of Thrones online ASAP, because the spoilers will be flying fast and furious for the next ten months), then you probably already know who we’re talking about from that headline.
Fans have been debating and theorizing about the death of Jon Snow ever since the fan favorite was offed in the season five finale.
Since most of the storylines in the show have now outstripped their source material, this is the first time that even the most devoted fans of George R.R. Martin’s novels have no idea of what’s to come.
For once, we can all venture wild guesses in online forums without fear of some smug book-reader swooping in and spoiling the fun.
This being 2015, the speculation began pretty much the moment Jon collapsed in a (wolf-shaped?) pool of his own blood:
Since we can no longer turn to the books for clues about what’s next, much of the obsessive fan theorizing has focused on actor Kit Harington.
GoT obsessives have scrutinized everything from Kit’s hair (Is it too short to play Jon?!?!) to the upcoming work schedule that may or may not prevent him reprising his role as the ill-fated Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.
Obviously, we won’t know anything for certain until the curtain rises on the show’s penultimate season next spring, but today we received a bit of good news for fans of Kit and/or the Man Who Knows Nothing:
Several reliable sources have confirmed that Kit Harington is in Belfast.
Most of the scenes at the Wall are filmed in Belfast, and GoT actors have been trickling into the corners of the world where their storylines are filmed for the past week.
Sure, it’s possible that Kit’s in Belfast for some other reason, and the timing is completely coincidental, but we’re gonna go ahead and assume Jon will be returning (in some form) for season six.
But hey, at the end of the day, we still know nothing…
