Amanda Peterson, a television and movie actress best known for portraying the love interest of Patrick Dempsey in 1987’s Can’t Buy Me Love, died over the weekend at her home in Colorado.

She was 43 years old.

TMZ reports it actually spoke to Peterson’s father, who said the family grew concerned about Amanda after no one had heard from her since July 3.

Her body was then discovered two days later.

The actress’ cause of death is unknown at this time, though Peterson’s father confirms his daughter suffered from “some illness,” along with sleep apnea.

She had also contracted pneumonia and sinusitis at various points in the last two years.

On television, Peterson played a role in NBC’s A Year in the Life, which ran for one season in 1987.

She left the entertainment world entirely in 1994 and had reportedly been trying to make it as a writer of late.

We send our condolences to Amanda’s loved ones.
