The American tourist tragically mauled to death by a lion in South Africa has been identified as Katherine Chappell, a visual effects editor for Game of Thrones.
Chappell was touring a wildlife park in South Africa on Monday.
While she was sitting in the passenger seat of an SUV taking pictures, a lion jumped through an open window and attacked her.
The female lion that attacked her had been mating. And she had cubs with her during the attack.
Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager of Lion Park confirmed the passengers in the SUV “had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy.”
He told to Associated Press, "The lion bit the lady through the window."
The 29-year-old, who was known as Katie, worked on movies such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Divergent.
She will be buried on Saturday.
Her sister, Jennifer, took to Facebook to thank everyone for their love and support: "We cannot thank everyone enough for the kind words and support. It means the world to us during this difficult time.”
She added, "Her energy and passion could not be contained by mere continents or oceans. She was very much loved and shared her love for life with those she met."
This was the third major cat attack in the park in four months, according to Sky News.
