Only a few weeks after Patrick Dempsey’s surprise Grey’s Anatomy exit, Ellen Pompeo is psyched to get back to Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital.

Patrick Dempsey was fired from Grey’s Anatomy for unprofessional behavior, and Pompeo isn’t crying as she gets ready for season 12.

"I think I have earned the right to declare today International Grey’s Anatomy Fan Appreciation Day!" Pompey captioned an Instagram photo.

She continued, "We are rolling out Season 12… All because of you… Get ready for lots of selfies.”

Pompeo might be alone her in sentiments though.

Outraged fans demanded a boycott of the show when Dempsey’s character, Derek Shepherd, was killed off on the April 23 episode “How to Save a Life”

Initially, Pompeo responded on Twitter about the shocking episode:

"I have always said what keeps me going is the fans."

She added: "Knowing we move you and inspire you. There are so many people out there who have suffered tremendous loss and tragedy."

"Husbands and wives of soldiers, victims of senseless violence and parents who have lost children. People who get up each day and do what feels like is the impossible.”

“So it is for these people and in the spirit of resilience I am honored and excited to tell the store of how Meredith goes on in the face of what feels like the impossible,” Pompeo adds.

Without mentioning Dempsey and their long history together on the show, many of us are left wondering if Pompeo cares much at all.

Why should she? ABC boss Paul Lee just announced that he hopes Grey’s Anatomy continues “for many, many years to come.”

And in the wake of McDreamy’s death, Meredith has a big story to tell. The question is if many fans will stick around to see it.
