If you watched Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 4 last night, you may have found yourself picking your jaw up off the floor following a bloody finale that left one fan favorite dead and another one considerably worse for wear.

If you didn’t catch the episode, you can always watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic, and you may wanna do that now, because obviously, spoilers lie ahead:

Even if you’re one of those smug book-readin’ types, you likely didn’t see the death of Ser Barristan Selmy coming, as Dany’s right-hand man is still alive in George R.R. Martin’s ongoing story.

Of course, you might have suspected the kindly old badass wouldn’t survive the episode when he started waxing nostalgic about his time with Daenerys’ older brother Rhaegar. (Never get wistful on GoT. It almost always means you’ll be dead soon.)

If you’re holding out hope that Ser Barristan the Bold miraculously survived his run-in with the Sons of the Harpy, we’ve got bad news for you:

Actor Ian McElhinney gave an post-ep "exit interview" with Entertainment Weekly in which he confirmed that he’s made his last appearance on GoT. But hey, at least the jury’s still out on Grey Worm!

"It proves you should probably not read the books," McElhinney said of his character’s unexpected death.

"I’ve read the books. So I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, ‘That doesn’t tally.’

"I’m disappointed. But I think you have to accept—as I have accepted—that the demands of TV are different than the demand of book writing."

Is it just us, or is that somehow sadder than the death of Ser Barristan? Hey, at least he got to go down in battle, instead of being executed while some sexy goth chick gave a speech. (Pour one out for Mance Rayder, y’all.)
