When Jonah Hill rose to fame following his performance in Superbad back in 2007, he seemed destined to be typecast as the overweight, schlubby friend of the hero in various Apatow-esque comedies.
But then something miraculous happened. Hill lost a ton of weight, he began taking on more serious roles, and he even racked up a couple Oscar nominations.
Based on the description and on-set photos from his latest project, however, Hill may have gone full-circle. (No pun intended.)
That’s Jonah filming "Arms and the Dudes" in Burbank, and while it’s possible he packed on some pounds for the film, the actor’s weight seems to have been ballooning pretty steadily over the past year or so.
Plus, nothing about the plot of the film (two stoners stumble into the world of international gun smuggling) seems like it would require Jonah to pull a Christian Bale.
Hill’s new look is surprising, as in past interviews, he’s spoken at length about the important role that proper nutrition plays in his life.
"It was just mostly diet," Hill said when asked about his weight loss in 2011. "I wish there was some crazy thing that I did, like a pill or a genie or something.
"So for me, who I was then is a lot different than who I am now. So being healthier came along with maturity…I want to mature, literally, in how I treat myself."
As far as we know, Hill is still dating Isabelle McNally, so maybe he’s just allowed himself to pack on some relationship pounds.
We’re certainly not hatin’ or shamin’ – just saying the dude might want to get back down to fighting form if he wants a shot at future Oscar-baity leading man roles.
