So… who is Harrison Wells?
This was the question at the center of The Flash Season 1 Episode 19, considering its rather appropriate title: "Who is Harrison Wells?"
Did we find out by the end of the hour?
The installment found Barry, Eddie and Caitlin dealing with a shapeshifter, while Joe and Cisco dug up Harrison’s dirty little HUGE secret.
Too often, unfortunately, shapeshifter episodes take too many liberties. It’s far too easy to write in cases of mistake identity and fake-outs.
And, such as was the case here, you end up with intelligent people not acting very intelligent.
In other words: when you know a shapeshifter is in your midst – and said shapeshifter has already taken over Eddie’s body – you don’t turn your back on Eddie, Barry, not when he’s suddenly “released” from police custody. Come on now.
Also, to Caitlin: when Barry is acting a bit different and then lays one on you… don’t merely brush it off without for a moment thinking: hey, might this not be Barry?!?
Fortunately, Eddie finally revealed to Iris that he’s been working with The Flash. That’s half the truth we’ve all been waiting to hear come out.
Elsewhere, Joe and Cisco headed to Starling City to investigate the site of Dr. Wells’ tragic car crash from 15 years ago, as Quentin Lance helped them uncovered a corpse long-buried nearby.
Later in Central City, Barry told Caitlin their findings:
- The body’s DNA is a precise match for Dr. Wells.
- So, their mentor did walk away from that accident as a "different person."
- Also in Starling City: Black Canary fanboy Cisco hooked up Laurel with an amped-up "Canary Cry” apparatus in trade for an autographed photo. Fun stuff.
Finally, you may want to go back in and watch The Flash online to see the post-credits tag. It featured Cisco, Barry and Caitlin discovering Wells’ secret room.
Inside of it, they found the Reverse-Flash suit, along with that newspaper from 2024 that reads “The Flash Missing."
