The last time we saw Barry Allen, he was having a no good, horrible, VERY bad day.
But The Flash Season 1 Episode 16 allowed our hero to go back and relive Weather Wizard terrorizing Central Cit, along with Wells (unbeknownst to anyone) murdering Cisco for knowing too much.
Did this day exceed the prior one?
Despite Wells’ numerous warnings to Barry that “time is an extremely fragile construct” that could unleash a “cataclysm” if tampered with, let’s take a look at all that changed…
A happy Barry tried to be proactive with Iris.
After splitting with Linda, he met her for coffee and and opened up about his feelings, ones she still did not reciprocate.
Moreover, Barry got punched by Eddie for his speech, although these fences were mended when Cailtin “explained” that Barry was suffering from “Lightning Psychosis.”
This time around, Barry never passed along the news that Iris’ boss was investigating Wells, so Cisco’s suspicions were not aroused.
Rather, he went to his brother’s birthday party, with Caitlin kindly tagged along. From there, once Cisco quit S.T.A.R Labs (after arming Captain Cold and company),, Wells chatted with him over by the containment field gizmo.
He told Cisco he was “family," the son he never had. Quite a different outcome than last week, huh?
Armed with knowledge, Barry easily gets the drop on Mark Mardon and locked him up in the Pipeline.
This caused Captain Cold, Heat Wave and Snart’s sister Lisa (Golden Glider!) to launch an offensive against the Santini family’s casino… using weapons Cisco was forced to make for them after they kidnapped his sibling.
The Captain later tortured Dante until Cisco told him The Flash’s identity. After Barry took down the attack on a money truck, he had to reach a compromise with Snart:
Captain Cold has free reign to rob, but he won’t kill anyone. Or else Barry will come for him, identity known or not.
So, to recap (and encourage folks to watch The Flash online to see for themselves):
-
Barry put a stop to Singh’s hospitalization and the tsunami threat.
-
Yet he now has a villain on the loose, someone aware of his identity.
-
Mason Bridge was visited by Reverse Flash and stopped from writing “the story of the century."
-
After Barry learned of Mason’s “disappearance,” he met up with Joe to admit the following: “You were right” about Wells. “All of it.”
