Meanwhile, he tasked Cookie with managing one of his fallen stars.
When we begin on On Empire Season 1 Episode 6, Lucious invites the family to dinner, for the purpose of telling them about his engagement to Anika.
Cookie shows up in lingerie, assuming he had other plans.
Fortunately, she turns her attention back to work, after hearing that Elle Dallas, a former Empire star recording artist, is about to be dropped from the label.
Cookie asks to manage this artist, and Lucious agrees.
This doesn’t go smoothly at the onset, but she later finds her groove, encouraging Elle to come out from whatever she’s hiding behind and truly thrive.
A metaphor for her own situation, perhaps, as well? Oh, and did we mention that Elle was played by none other than Hole rocker Courtney Love?
Meanwhile, Michael struggles with his role in Jamal’s world, especially after Jamal does an interview and reveals that there is no one special in his life.
A tad awkward for sure. Things get more complicated later for Jamal, whose old friend Olivia shows up and tells him that his daughter wants to meet him.

As for Bunkie’s murder, Vernon asks Lucious if he was involved, and the CEO confesses. Vernon says he’ll cover it up, but Lucious needs to up the security.
Vernon berates Andre for covering for Lucious, then has his lawyer encourage one of his clients already facing murder charges to confess to this one too.
They find a man to confess to Bunkie’s murder, in exchange for a large cash payout to his family, and all is covered up in Lucious’ world … for now.
