In what direction are these storylines going? How dangerously are fans dangling off a cliff following the conclusion of The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 11?
Follow the links above to see it for yourself! We won’t give away too much in the recap below, but here’s a bit of a rundown of what went down …
When the installment began, Damon and Elena were trying to get a handle on their weird in-between status, and Caroline with her mother’s cancer diagnosis.
Stefan tells her he’s never heard of vampire blood being able to cure cancer, so Liz’s brain tumor looks to be something a supernatural Hail Mary can’t fix … right?
Caroline isn’t sure, so she gives a patient with the same diagnosis as her mother her blood to see if it cures him, and initially, it seems to succeed!
However … we then see him keel over and die in a pool of his own blood, just as Caroline races to give her mother the "cure" she believes she discovered.
As for Elena and Damon, their relationship’s momentum feels stalled, but she finally agrees to go out on a date with him, and has that "look" in her eyes.
They’ll be a couple again sooner rather than later, we’re guessing, only to face impossible obstacles and probably break up again. That’s how they do.
Kai, meanwhile, is far less complicated. He’s on the hunt for power and does evil things just because he enjoys it, not unlike vintage Klaus of Seasons 2-3.
His vendetta is against his own family, so in a sense he is not intertwined with the mythology of the show, which is a welcome relief after past villains.
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know what we mean – people and events contrived solely to break up Delena, or torture Stefan, or what have you.
In this case Kai is just trying to take over his family’s coven, and even if you don’t completely understand where it’s going or care if he does, it’s entertaining.
The guy’s got that much charisma, and it’s gonna be fun. NOTE: The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 12 airs on Thursday, January 29 at 8/7c on The CW.
