When we first heard that Jamie Lynn Spears pulled a knife on a crowd in order to defend her friend, we were somewhat skeptical.
Sure, the Spears girls are products of the bayou, and Jamie Lynn was in a sandwich shop in Louisiana at night (Read: hammered) at the time of the incident, but we just couldn’t picture the 23-year-old mom going off like that.
Well, now that there’s video of the incident, we realize that we were both right and wrong:
As you can see, Jamie Lynn does, indeed, grab a knife, but it’s not the Crocodile Dundee-style machete we were hoping for.
It’s one of those long, serrated guys that’s used to saw through sub rolls.
It could probably do some damage in the right circumstances, but it’s also probably designed so that 16-year-old "sandwich artists" don’t leave their severed fingertips in your five-dollar footlong.
Even more disappointing is the fact that Jamie grabs the knife and then just sort of walks around with it for a few seconds. Probably the only one she succeeded in scaring is the poor kid who works there.
Look, we’re not saying Jamie should’ve sliced and diced her way out of the situation and walked out of there looking like Uma Thurman at the end of the first Kill Bill, but we are saying the whole thing was kind of blown out of proportion.
And that might be a good thing.
Spears married Jamie Watson last year, her kid is six years old, and she she’s trying to rebuild her singing career.
This way, she gets to earn come country badass cred, but her husband and daughter aren’t forced to visit her behind bars. Works out for everyone.
