Damien will join The Voice finals next week, winning the show’s Wild Card spot after a spirited performance Tuesday night and a rapid round of fan voting.
Carson Daly announced him as the fourth finalist on NBC’s Today show this morning.
"I feel incredible," he said. "I can’t ask for anything more. It means the world to me."
Damien will join Matt McAndrew, Chris Jamison and Craig Wayne Boyd, the top three vote-getters who all advanced on The Voice results show last night.
The TSA agent who works in L.A. but hails from Monroe, La., made it to the final five but failed to move on to the finals, along with Taylor John Williams.
However, Damien, Williams and the seven other ousted finalists from Season 7 each got a chance to sing last night, vying for a wild card berth in the finale.
While he could’ve theoretically lost to anyone from the Top 12, Damien showed us why he had bested them once before and belonged in this fall’s Top 5.
Singing Bruno Mars’ "Grenade," Damien gave an emotional performance with an urgency that he lacked – despite his talent – in the past few weeks.
His win means mentor Adam Levine took his entire three-man team into the finals, with only one other singer, Blake Shelton protege Boyd, lasting to the end.
