It’s safe to say Bruce Jenner’s mom is not a huge fan of his estranged wife Kris, which you already know if you watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians online.
She’s making her disdain crystal clear in a new interview, however.
Esther Jenner, 88, let loose on her soon-to-be-former daughter-in-law, and also told readers what she thinks about those Bruce Jenner sex change rumors …
Calling Kris a “controlling monster,” she says, “I have to be truthful. One thing I’m not, I’m not a phony, and I get in a lot of trouble sometimes for saying it like it is.”
Asked if she really believes that about Kris, Esther responded, “That’s accurate. I don’t know why she is. I don’t think she treated anybody very well.”
“She’s domineering …. it’s do it her way, or there’s no way. She could insult you with a big smile on her face. What do you do with a person like that?
“You’re going to avoid them if possible. She was backstabbing as far as my grandchildren were concerned, and that is something I can’t stand,” Esther added.”
“I had very little to do with Kris. I stayed away as much as I could.”
Esther said that her son is also happy to not be around the Momager. In fact, “he is ecstatically happy right now,” she said when asked how Bruce is coping.
“When I talk to him, I can hear it in his voice… since he has got his freedom he has his own checkbook and doesn’t have to ask Kris for money which he had to do.”
Before the Kris and Bruce Jenner divorce, his mom laments, the Olympic great “couldn’t even buy one of his little helicopters without asking her for money.”
Esther even went as far as to say her response was “Hallelujah” when she first heard they split, and “hopes [Kris] changes her name back to Kardashian.”
“I don’t want her to carry the [Jenner] name,” she says bluntly.
As for when the resentment of Kris started? Go back to 1991.
“Kris never even cooked [while Kendall and Kylie Jenner were growing up],” she laments. “She was always running around, going out to eat with her girlfriends.”
“She left Bruce to take care of the two babies and he did. The only one I ever saw change the diapers was Bruce [too], I never saw Kris do it,” she said.
“Kris hasn’t bothered to bring up Kendall and Kylie,” says the teenagers’ paternal grandmother, “but Bruce has been there and brought them up, thank God.”
What does she think of her granddaughters’ … lives?
“Kylie’s 17, she’s going through a little teenage stage to assert her independence but that’ll pass,” she said. “Kendall is a different personality than Kylie.”
“Kendall is kind of a reserved, quieter personality. Kendall is going about her career very calmly, and has a heck of a career in modeling, she’s doing really well!”
Esther’s harsh words, however, will likely not come as a surprise to Kris, who during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians admitted that she knows Esther “can’t stand” her.
As for rumors that Bruce is transitioning into a woman?
“I love him, no matter what,” she said. “I’ve brought this up to him on the phone when we’ve talked and he says, ‘Mom, you can’t believe this stuff.'”
“And I said, ‘Well, I want to tell you one thing, Bruce…[if] it’s true or false, it’s not going to change my love for you,’ and it’s true, that’s exactly how I feel.”
However, “I don’t like it,” she admitted. “I hate his hair [too], I tell him it’s ugly. That it’s ridiculous. I told him the other day, ‘You know Bruce, you just turned 65.'”
“‘You’re wearing your hair like a teenage rebel’ and he laughed, just cracked up. He doesn’t pay any attention. He’s always been single-minded and independent.”
