Grace Dunham is standing up for Lena Dunham.

The Girls actress has been accused of sexual abuse by the conservative website Truth Revolt, which sites multiple passages from Dunham’s best-selling memoir as proof:

Dunham tells a story about looking into her sister’s vagina when she was seven years old. Dunham says she sometimes pleasured herself as a child while sharing a bed with Grace. Dunham jokes about demanding kisses from her sibling like a “sexual predator.”

In response to the claims, Dunham’s attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter to Truth Revolt, while Dunham canceled some appearances and went on a self-admitted “rage spiral” on Twitter.

Now, Grace Dunham is also speaking out against the charges.

“heteronormativity deems certain behaviours harmful, and others “normal”; the state and media are always invested in maintaining that,” Grace Tweeted.

The younger Dunham sister is a lesbian.

“As a queer person: i’m committed to people narrating their own experiences, determining for themselves what has and has not been harmful,” she added. “2day, like every other day, is a good day to think about how we police the sexualities of young women, queer, and trans people.”

That (mostly) makes sense to us, but the overall point is this: Lena Dunham was sharing stories about how she was an eccentric child. Period. Full stop. The end.

Here are some other interesting excerpts from her book:
