A woman lodged in the chimney of a Southern California home belonging to a man she met online was rescued and then arrested for illegal entry this week.
According to law enforcement, Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa reportedly went on multiple dates with the owner of the home she had to be jackhammered out of.
Firefighters had to partially dismantle the brick chimney she had become trapped inside, chiseling it away and lubricating it with dish soap to extricate her.
Ventura County fire Capt. Ron Oatman says first responders arrived on the scene after neighbors’ reported what sounded like a woman crying from the roof.
The Ventura County Star reports that Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, 30 was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry and giving false information to police.
Police sources wouldn’t elaborate on the nature of the relationship between the would-be Santa Claus and the home’s owner, who was not there for this.
KTLA reports the woman went on several dates with the owner of the residence.
Nunez-Figueroa had no clear injuries following this ordeal, but was taken to an area hospital for evaluation as a precaution after the rescue operation
It’s unclear if she has an attorney, and no phone listing for her could be found.
