Brooklyn Nine-Nine made like The Office on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 2 Episode 3.
Remember when that beloved NBC sitcom brought up The Office Olympics? Well, Brooklyn Nine-Nine offered up The Jimmy Jab Games last night, an employee versus employee showdown named after the King of Iraq President of Iran Armand Jimmy Jab Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
This competition took place while Jeffords and Holt were meeting at 1 Police Plaza to ask for funds that would help them combat a new street drug.
It was organized by Peralta (naturally) and it involved such contests as:
- Eating month-old Chinese food.
- Racing in bomb squad suits.
- Going undercover and talking to as many cops as possible before being identified.
- An obstacle course that involved barricade hurdles, bean bag guns, snack heating and the use of a laptop from 1982.
But the games allowed for more than just inner-office hijinks. They also did a strong job of taking us inside the personal lives of these characters.
Boyle was determined to get a certain tape back from the precinct video camera (because it contained evidence that he and Gina are totally doing it) after Hitchcock checked out. But Hitchcock would not return the item unless Boyle helped make him "cool."
(Boyle tried, but he eventually fought Hitchcock for it because that was too difficult of a task to accomplish.)
Meanwhile, Peralta wanted the phone number of Rosa’s friend, but Rosa made it clear to Jake that he isn’t over Amy. Peralta claimed otherwise, even agreeing to not flirt with Amy during the final round of competition…
… but then he was forced to admit that he let Amy win (her first-ever Jimmy Jab victory!) because Rosa was right: he isn’t over her. Still, she gave him her friend’s number because she appreciated his honesty and recognized the best way to get over someone is just to try and do it.
ELSEWHERE, Holt and Terry tried to appeal to Deputy Chief Wuntch in order to get funding for the precinct to stop the spread of Giggle Pig, a new form of ecstasy.
We were treated to more vicious (in their own way) back and forth between Holt and his nemesis. But, in the end, Holt secured a task force to his precinct. It would be expensive and it would place a lot of pressure on the team to make arrests.
But Terry talked Holt into letting Rosa head it up and it looks like we have a major Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 2 arc on the way.
LINE OF THE NIGHT, courtesy of Holt talking about Wuntch, whose name he only just realized sounds like "lunch." You want to hear the funniest thing ever? I also split an infinitive and she didn’t notice.
