Hear Katy Perry "Roar," indeed. The pop superstar’s latest hit single has officially wrested the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 from Robin Thicke.

Thicke’s "Blurred Lines" had a 12-week run at the top – one of only 14 tracks ever to keep the #1 spot that long – but as the summer ends, so did its reign.

Katy Perry‘s “Roar” has doned “Blurred Lines” in, with the first release from her upcoming album Prism marking her eighth #1 on the Hot 100 career.

Her last #1 was 2012′s “Part Of Me.” Katy’s most recent single, “Wide Awake,” peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 last year … a relative disappointment for her.

“Roar” has so such problems, selling 448,000 digital downloads last week alone and gaining strength ever since release. It’s a champion, you could say.

As an artist, she certainly doesn’t lack for effort, theatrics and production value. Watch the just-released Katy Perry "Roar" music video above!
