The weekend numbers are in and, to the surprise of no one, The Wolverine has taken over the top spot.
Although The Conjuring was able to frighten its way to the top last week, it took a 47% tumble into second place despite adding over 100 theaters.
Despicable Me 2 is still hanging in there in third place, even though it’s been at the box office for a month now and lost almost 350 theaters this weekend.
The biggest mover, however, was also the most expected: Fruitvale Station jumped from 17th last week into the top 10 spot by adding an additional 1,000-plus theaters in their wide release, bringing in $4.67 million over the weekend.
Most impressive opening? Well, it certainly wasn’t The To Do List which only averaged $2,600 at each of its almost 600 theaters.
Oh no, that honor goes to Woody Allen’s newest film, Blue Jasmine, which brought in $613,000 despite being shown in only 6 theaters. This tops the opening for his Oscar-winning last project, Midnight in Paris.
