Chris Brown is now under criminal battery investigation stemming from the brawl he got into with Frank Ocean earlier this year, according to reports.
Shortly after the incident went down at a recording studio, law enforcement indicated the case was closed, but TMZ now reports that this is not the case.
The L.A. County D.A.’s Office has an active file and is deciding whether to prosecute Chris for battery – even though Ocean declined to press charges.
Urging “sanity” and “forgiveness,” Ocean said he would let the whole incident slide … though he says Brown used a gay slur and threatened to shoot him.
Normally, the lack of a cooperating witness would mean the end of such a case, but if there’s compelling evidence, the D.A. could still decide to pursue it.
It’s also possible the Brown-Ocean incident could come up today at the former’s probation review hearing today; Chris is expected to appear in court.
Brown, who is required as per his probation for assault (on you-know-who in 2009) to obey all laws, is also being investigated in a hit-and-run incident.
Until he’s charged with a crime (and possibly not even then, as he could be cleared), neither incident is likely to have an impact on Chris’ probation.
Falsifying his community service hours, which he also stands accused of doing in Virginia, could be a whole ‘nother story for the singer, however.
