Things may soon get very interesting for Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman.
Even more interesting than they already are, we ought to say, considering these actresses have been arrested for allegedly using their wealth and their means to bride their kids’ way into college.
According to The Blast, prosecutors are reaching out to multiple defendands in this wide-ranging scandal in order to build the best case possible against various parties.
You know what we mean, right?
You’ve seen Law & Order or The Wire or any number of procedurals in which cops or lawyers pressure one alleged criminal to flip on the other.
The same thing applies here — the alleged criminals are just very rich individuals around the country, including one woman best known for her wholesome role on Full House and another best known for her role on a long-running ABC drama.
Writes The Blast:
Prison time is definitely on the table and we’re told suspects are being encouraged to talk as soon as possible, and as give as much info as possible, to avoid ending up behind bars.
It’s unclear whether Huffman and Loughlin know each other at all.
They may never have had any contact and they may not have any useful information on the other one to use in order to lighten their own sentence or legal penalty.
But can you imagine how exciting things will get if this isn’t the case?
If Loughlin goes to the police with intel on Huffman and flips on her fellow celebritity? That would simply be awesome.
Huffman has said nothing since being indicted two weeks ago by the FBI; she has laid very low.
The same holds true for Loughlin, except that old videos of her and/or her daughter, Olivia Jade, continue to resurface online.
And each one just makes the actress look worse than the one before.
For example, as posted below, Loughlin and Olivia joked in 2017 about the former paying for the latter’s education, almost as if they knew something scandalous at the time:
Olivia and her sister, of course, were admitted to the University of Southern California after they pretended to be high school crew team members in order to have their admission standards lowered by USC as prospective athletic recruits.
Loughlin and her husband are accused of paying $500,000 to propagate this scheme, shelling out this money to a middle man, who bribed a USC employee to fudge the teenagers’ records.
The college bribery scandal has shed light on all the ways that rich people have an advantage over less fortunate people — even though, to be clear, most rich people do not cheat and lie in this kind of manner.
But at least one woman whose child was screwed over by Loughlin and her defendants has filed a $500 billion lawsuit against those involved in this nationwide scam.
“Neither actress knew this would become so serious,” a Huffman source says in the new issue of Us Weekly, adding of Felicity and Lori:
"They haven’t fully grasped the extent of their alleged crimes or the possibility of prison time.”
Loughlin and her husband are scheduled to appear in a Boston courtroom on March 29, as is Huffman.
We doubt they’ll actually end up in jail because they are famous and rich.
But at least Loughlin has already been fired by Hallmark and her career appears to be over.
That’s something to take solace in we guess.
